Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread

I know that when I was in high school I marked all parties where I planned to drink and sexually assault people on my calendar, but I’ve always been an overachiever with mad time management skills.

On a serious note, if you’re going to invent a rape accusation, why include a witness who is also the attacker’s best friend?! That’s just ridiculous.

“WH comms director accused of covering up sexual misconduct at Fox chooses Fox host who defended network's leading perpetrator of sexual misconduct to interview SCOTUS nominee accused of sexual misconduct who was picked by president accused of sexual misconduct.”
- Matthew Gertz

It’s like there’s a thread running throughout the GOP.....

sorry, misread, PP is not Anti-Trump. PPP is clearly anti-Trump and sane.

Judge Kavenaugh very recently owed 200k in credit card debt-that debt suddenly was paid by undisclosed sources. Who is he beholden to for it? Last time I checked Avenatti wasn't trying to get on the supreme court.

There was never $200k in credit card debt. Read your talking points a little more closely.

I am as anti-Trump is the next person. However, I do understand that people are convicting BK with little to no evidence. That said why don’t earth would she make it up? Her life is being threatened and obviously will never be the same, or at least not for a long while. It’s not like she claimed he raped her... So why would she make up this sort of middle of the road story? It’s not like she is some crazed Democrat and everyone knows that if this guy doesn’t make it there will be another one in line. So what would be her motive?

Her motive would be to keep an anti-abortion judge off the Court. She is a very liberal California professor who hired a well-known liberal activist to help her accomplish this.

She’s really not that liberal. And really has no background in politics. It’s a stretch to say that she would put her life and her family’s life on the line like this if there were no truth to it.

Plus there are dozens of people now coming forward to say that the Ramirez accusation is not at all out of character.

We shall see...

Any cites for this?

The New Yorker article quotes at least half a dozen people who are saying they could envision this happening and that Ramirez was a quiet, shy outsider who often got taken advantage of in situations like these.. Combine that with those who talk about what kind of crew he ran with at GP - and the yearbook stuff - and it does look somewhat incriminating.

I absolutely admit there are a lot of others who say they can’t envision it. I just find it very unlikely that either of these women made these stories up. It just makes no sense that they would have.

In my reading of the article, only the anonymous classmate says it. Krasberg doesn't say it, nor does Richard Oh, both of whom are mentioned by name. At the end, the story discusses six classmates, three of whom are anonymous, who dispute Ramirez's story and say it would have been out of character for Brett..

Please tell us who the other five people are in the article besides anonymous classmate who say they could envision Kavanaugh doing this.

1. anonymous classmate who heard story right after it happened & indep confirmed Ramirez's details
2. Richard Oh heard of a male student exposing himself & upsetting female student and told family about it at the time
3. James Roche, Kavanaugh's freshman roommate says it's believable considering what he knew of Kavanaugh & Ramirez
4. Jennifer Klaus finds the allegation "plausible"
5. Anonymous classmate believes Ramirez
6. Another classmate who knew both K and R - “I believe it could have happened,” noted that Debbie was frequently taunted

I'd like to keep an anti-abortion judge off the SC, but I'd never make up a story like this and ruin my life. It's not worth it, even though I do not want Kavanaugh on the SC. Only a completely crazy person would do such a thing, and from all accounts, Ford is not crazy.

BTW, PP, I don't believe you are anti-Trump for a minute.

I didn't say I was anti-Trump. The question was asked what her possible motive could be, and I answered it.

It was the PP above me who said she's anti-Trump.

There are many conservatives in this thread.

Wouldn't he need to disclose how the debt was repaid?

It wasn’t written cruelly, but it was noted that kind Debbie Martinez was a gentle outsider, and that Kavanaugh and friends were manipulative, hard-partying wolves. Really hard to see how anyone can discount the story - there was hearsay corroboration, and this isn’t a criminal trial. It just has laid bare the entitlement that has been the foundation of his life.

He and his wife are going to just say the other women all decided to lie? Quite a strategy.

Yes, his wife will say she has never witnessed this type of behavior and her husband is a saint.

I still want to know how they are living in Chevy Chase on a judge’s salary paying two private tuitions and a country club membership.

My understanding is that his parents are wealthy and he is an only child.

But if he were given gifts by his parents, wouldn't he have to disclose those on his taxes and pay taxes on them?

I know a Reagan-appointed judge who was given a free membership in the Chevy Chase club back in the 80s. Maybe the CC club gives out free memberships to Republican judges??

If the CC club gives you a free membership, do you have to report that as a gift based on the "retail" value of that membership? Do you have to pay taxes on that free membership?

Between 60k and 200k on multiple cards and a loan. Both accrued and paid off mysteriously.

Nope. You don't have to disclose gifts you receive. The giver does, and only if it's in excess of a certain amount.
