Wilson's are particularly ridiculous because they go off every single time anytime goes through, regardless of whether they are carrying metal or not. So 100% of the people who go through the metal detectors then have to get wanded. It is beyond stupid.

Plenty of other parents will.

These things happen in other high schools too. Other schools (specially charters) have a system of quenching it before it gets out. There have been multiple use of drugs in HRCS. But somehow, they have never come out and anyone who has dared write about it on DCUM has been shut down by those parents whose job is to do quick and efficicent damage control.

Last year my child saw students doing drugs in the bathrooms of the 4th floor at his charter. Police activity was seen by several students. Parents did not get any letter about it. Had this been elsewhere, parents would have probably been notified and a DCUM trend would have been several pages long.

Perhaps they misunderstood that it is Highly Regarded Charter School... anyone could have made that mistake.

Before anyone gets on a high horse, no one know how forthcoming Cahall would have been either.

This could have been much, much worse. It's hard to see why there has been any question but that the student should be harshly punished and never return to Wilson.

Hey Captain Obvious, I don't think anyone disagrees with you and I'm quite certain that his return to Wilson is not an option at this point given that he is in custody with the police. But if it makes you feel better to think that you are speaking truth to power about this, the go ahead, i guess.

What do we know about the training for the security aides at Wilson? What is the security company's track record with weapons screening elsewhere?
