Nice try again. I hope Jeff is logging all the IPs of these lame attempts at misdirection.

That was my very first post on this thread. Jeff can confirm that and tell you that I also thanked a pp for an update on the man who lost both legs.

There is just something about this that reminds me of IRA bombings. We have no clue who is responsible and they could be as likely a group as any. Really.

The police are realy appealing to the public for cell phone videos and tips. It sounds almost like there are no suspects at the point. Fox is reporting a letter filled with RICIN was sent to a Republican senator today.. It was intercepted.. I hope this boston thing was a lone wolf psycho rather than al quaeda or something like that. The letter is one heck of a coincidence. Quite frankly this is freaking me out especially living in DC

There is a separate thread for the Ricin envelope.

Because the US is so instrumental in their oppression abroad? It's a reach. Sorry for the "again," but still think it's an overly convoluted attempt to avoid facing the reality of our domestic situation. We have created these people in our own country by treating them as benign bordering on quaint. They are dangerous, clearly.

...and you are reaching much like you have accused others. At this time, it is unclear who are the perpetrator or perpetrators of this horrendous act. Perhaps you should practice what you preach.

I'm not denying it could be "homegrown" terrorist. I'm also not saying it IS an IRA bombing, just it was reminiscent of one. Could the IRA bomb Boston, sure. Why not? My neighbor could have done it too. I have no flipping clue.

It could be a man mad at an ex girlfriend. It could be a terror network. Who knows?

Besides the people identified, there was a group who murdered a Jewish talk show host about 20 years ago. Operation Rescue and Operation Save America regularly threaten, harass, and injure, and murder abortion providers and their support staff. They are very concerned with God and the flag. Patriots' Day is an important day to them. Yesterday was the legal holiday for Patriots' Day in MA.

Left wing domestic groups include Earth First!, PETA, ALF, ELF and others. They tend to target animal research facilities, property developers, and car lots. They cause a lot of property damage, but not as much murder and mayhem. Lone left wing actors can be murderous though. The Unabomber was left wing terrorism. The guy that shot up the Discovery Channel building was left wing terrorism. The guy that shot up the Family Research Council was left wing.

Saying this looks like right wing terrorism isn't an indictment of the GOP or the Tea Party. Given the day, it's a reasonable suspicion. If someone sets a lot full of SUVs on fire or murders someone over climate change or spikes trees to maim the loggers cutting them, I'd look to the left.

I agree for the most part, however the left was very violent and was responsible for terrorist acts that killed many until the 1980s (around the world). Terrorism was a leftist ideology. There are still left wing terrorist groups causing murder and mayhem around the world, just not recently in the US.

Such as?

NP here. Such as the Marxist group that attacked the US embassy in Turkey earlier this year.

Terrorism is not an ideology. It is a tactic that cn be employed by any group left or right that wants to challenge a government or society.

Except the IRA disarmed in 2005.

No to sidetrack this and if anyone wants to start a spin off thread I'm happy to contribute more. But the "IRA" is hardly disarmed. The Provisional IRA (Provos), which was the main branch of the IRA at the time - think Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness - did turn in casts amounts of weapons and explosives. However, there are several other splinter IRA groups still active. The Real IRA and the Conintuity IRA. Neither group supported the GFA or disarment. There is good evidence that Provos turned some of their weapons over to the RIRA. And they have been several attacks by them over recent years. Morta attacks, pipe bombs, and the murder of 2 off duty Britisg soldiers a couple of years ago.

There are also several other Republican groups still active. INLA, RAAD, etc.

Technically I think the RIRA is calling itself the New IRA now.

Sorry, that turned out longer than I planned and I certainly don't want to make it seem I believe any faction of the IRA was involved with this. Just wanted to clear up some misconceptions.
