My son has similar scores. NNAT 152 with a GBRS of 15 so just curious. Did you receive a letter or found it out by some other means? |
| We received a letter in the mail. |
| Hi All! Keep in mind that this poster is applying from a private school -- that application process is earlier. If your second grade child is already in the FCPS system, you should expect your letter to arrive around mid-January. Good luck! |
|
Let me elaborate on the pp: 2nd graders in Fairfax county should expect their cogat schools and pool letter (if applicable) to arrive in January. The final decision will come in May.

Finally got the letter. He was found eligible. Thanks for all your help. |

Getting back to "just the scores" . . . .
I don't know the GBRS for either kid, but I know they were high - I'm guessing over 13. Scores are: Kid #1 - NNAT 118, CogAT 120, 134, 120, WISC (had been previously administered, not done for AAP purposes) 130 - in via screening pool Kid #2 - NNAT 118, CogAT 112, 121, 124 - in via parent referral We did not have to appeal for either one; both got in through initial screening. |
| Wow. I'd say kid #2 beat the odds. |
| Without knowing GBRS, we can not say that. a GBRS of 14 with those scores probably is sufficient |
| So has anyone in FCPS receive pool letters or CoGAT scores for 2nd graders yet? What's up? One FCPS site says we have until Jan 13th to appeal. Another says Jan. 17th. It seems like last year, we had the letters by now. |
Those appeal dates are for the fall screening process, for which eligibility decisions have already been made. For the scores coming out now, the materials will all be due to the school by Feb. 3rd (I think) and then the screening files will go to the committee. Eligibility decisions come out in May, and the appeals are due in June. It's confusing because there are 2 timelines because they do screen some kids in the fall. But FCPS 2nd-graders are on the main timeline with the screening process starting now - you still have a few weeks to get everything together (but obviously it's not time for appeals). As an aside, I did see on another listserve yesterday that someone said she had just received her 2nd-grader's CogAT scores. So maybe they are in the mail? |
If you are referring to the post in the FCAG Yahoo group, those tests were conducted at GMU. |
Thanks for the clarifications above. I'm sure, as with everything, it's in the mail!
|
Exactly!

No, I was referring to an email on the Novamoms listserve on Monday. It sounded like the scores were from FCPS testing. |
Those scores were from non-FCPS testing. |
