The FAA issued a ground stop for all D.C. area airports Friday evening. It has since been lifted for Dulles and BWI, but remains in effect for DCA.
It's due to an issue at the area's main control tower — Potomac Consolidated TRACON (PCT).
This is the second issue at the facility this month that has caused ground stops.

The Federal Aviation Administration issued the alerts around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening. The stops for Dulles and BWI have since been lifted, but remain in place for DCA.

The FAA has said that the ground stops were due to an "environmental issue" at Potomac Consolidated TRACON (PCT).

There was a "strong smell" that closed all DC area airports on Friday.

Does this mean the toilets are backing up at PCT? It’s a big facility.

Trump has been systematically withholding disaster aid from blue states and giving it to red states. There’s no reason for democrats to fund FEMA knowing Trump will stiff any blue state in need.

ICE is already funded, out the wazoo! The so-called "Big Beautiful Bill" gave them a massive amount of funding, seven times more than ICE's previous annual budget. And CBP also got a massive funding increase, four times more than what their previous annual budget was.

So they already got their budgets. Enough to last them years. YEARS.

So why is this a big issue? Is this a.) just more phoney baloney Republican manufactured outrage? More GOP lies?

Or is it b.) are they actually out of money? Because if they are already out of money, then that's a huge problem and we need to have an immediate investigation into where it all went. Was it stolen? Under George W. Bush, FY 2004-2008, ICE annual funding went from $3.5b to $5b/year, and CBP funding from $7b to $9b/year

Under Barack Obama, FY 2009-2016 it continued to increase, ICE $5.5b-6b/year and CBP $10-$12b. And he conducted a massive number of deportations.

Under Trump I, FY 2017-2020 it increased yet again, ICE $7.5b-$8.5b/year and CBP $14b-$17b/year

Under Biden, FY 2021-2024, they continued to receive increases, ICE $8.5b-$9.6b and CBP $17b-19.3b/year. Note, this is already more than double what it was under George W. Bush and significantly more than Obama.

Under Trump II, FY 2025-2028, ICE got yet another increase, $10b/year, and $17.8b for CBP.

But THEN, Congress also passed OBBA, which provided $75b for ICE and $65b for CBP through FY 2025-2029.

So why are Republicans claiming ICE and CBP aren't funded and it's the Dems fault?

Senate already passed the bill to fund TSA and fix the problem. But for some reason the House REPUBLICANS are refusing to agree to it and are demanding EVEN MORE funding for ICE and CBP even though they already have more than enough money to last them years!

Senate already voted to fund TSA, and ICE/CBP were already funded through OBBBA.

At this point anything continuing is purely a Republican shutdown of TSA. They own it 100 percent.
