Isn’t the policy also to have 180 days??? (This is different than the low bar 990 minimum state requirement.)

They say they still have 7 snow days available or something like that so no -issue and yes they emphasized was absolutely zero no issues except at all zero to move entire graduation.

Who would be dumb enough to vote for Trump over a school schedule?

Oh right. We know. Dumb fcks.

It’s not just this, it’s all the woke “accommodate everyone” bullsh!t.

Or in this case, accommodate a small chosen minority at the expense of many other people’s special events.

Here’s an idea: How about Muslims can take the day off if they want and everyone else can go to school as usual.

Why is the school board voting on this? (I’m not complaining, to be clear?) Durán kept school closed during Covid and the school board never took a vote.

(keep in mind baseball for example does tournaments on spring break).[/quote

Band and Orchestra should 100% be able to continue going on trips. Plenty of events happen when school is closed. The teachers will get paid for the day right? So they could volunteer their day and go (and I think band and orchestra directors are usually a very committed bunch).

They can not do that contractually.

She actually surprised and impressed me.

Exactly. This nonsense is what pita communities against each other. Let alone the thousands of working families who now have to scramble for care. Make it make sense!!

Turner: HS teacher emailed me to say they would be losing an ENTIRE block of learning that day, the last block before final exams.

She votes no.

They are voting on this and they can’t even answer if the SOL window is closed- they say could be makeup day on 6th but they aren’t sure. They aren’t sure????

They do say they can vote to waive policy- they had option.

*EquItY*

Even Fairfax isn’t doing it. Not sure who decided to die on this hill at APS.

Well for next year they added in an extra holiday after Memorial Day assuming Eid will be on a Wednesday so perhaps someone in the “calendar” department should come up with an alternative as needed 😂
