Why do teachers allow horribly behaved kids to stay in the classroom and disrupt other kids?

Admin makes teachers have to deal with chaotic students by ignoring reports of crime and violence. Not only do they ignore but they retaliate and fire teachers who try to protect students. They call this a shortage.!

Pull your kid out of the class if another student is threatening to murder them. The school is useless at protecting its students.

If the antisocial kids are not learning then none of the kids are allowed to learn. Then the kids have to watch their teachers be berated, punished, and then eventually fired. That'll teach those students to be more studious.

ok, but most if not all the classes in the whole school, have violent, threatening kids in them. And the administration refuses to do anything about the violent, threatening kids in school.

What are we supposed to do?

Let's not give our benevolent union a free pass. They take our hard earned money and give not protection or support. They used to say it's impossible to fire a teacher. No the union uses your money to support your boss in firing teachers when the classroom student violence starts to be reported by teachers. We educators are trying to do our job and prioritize safety but it doesn't work when admin wants teachers to just not report crime. The trainings they give us say we must report crime. Conflict of interest! Teachers need our bosses to follow the law and the rules!

They are also being evaluated on discipline and believe me, central office is paying close attention to the demographic being disciplined and the number of times. Apparently schools that have a high suspension rate for certain demographics are given a warning. This scares the $h*t out of principals so they do what they can to protect themselves. Unfortunately, this affects students and teachers.

Regarding parents. The minute you tell them their precious snowflake is misbehaving, they become defensive, hostile, and accusatory. There is no village. No collaboration. No relationship. Parents don't want to hear it. Just fix it because their child is not the problem, and how dare you bother them with nonsense.

Regarding special education. Numbers are at an all time high. students from other countries are coming to the US to get special education services because their country either does not have a form of special education or no special education at all. I get it, they want the best for their kids but it is impacting the schools.

Regarding teachers. There is a huge shortage, and after reading this thread I can understand why. It's brutal. Verbal and physical abuse on a daily basis is enough to make anyone want to quit.

I guess I am a Debbie Downer because I do not think anything is going to change. We can't discipline because God forbid there is a demographic discrepancy. We can't make kids go to school. We can't withhold credit even though students don't do their work and end up failing (they will pass). We can't enforce a dress code because students should have creative freedom with the way they dress, and we better not hurt feelings by asking them to cover up just because the girls (and boys) want to wear tube tops and thong shorts on a random Wednesday.

I agree 100%! Central office doesn't care about how safe kids feel because that statistic doesn't impact school rankings. They care about suspension numbers decreasing, the number of kids failing, and the number of kids enrolled in higher level classes. All of those are easy to manipulate if you don't factor in what's actually best for the student.

If I send even our high flyers to the office, they are back in 10 min with a bag of takis because I haven’t yet discussed specific incident of disruptive behavior with their parent and the grade level team. The clock resets each day. The kids know that.
