Is it possible Trump doesn't seriously expect or care if RFK Jr.'s nomination is approved?
I assume Trump only nominated him because RFK Jr., agreed to stop his campaign and endorse Trump. Now Trump has upheld his end of the bargain. Trump's main criterion is personal loyalty and I don't think RFK Jr. is especially loyal to Trump. If he doesn't get approved, Trump may not mind so much, beyond some pro forma protests. |
+1. As we head into the confirmation process for these picks, pay attention to GOP senators who are up for re-election in 2026 such as Dan Sullivan, Joni Ernst, Bill Cassidy, Thom Tillis and of course Susan Collins. Every time one of them votes against a Trump nominee it's a boost to a potential primary challenger. These senators have to pick their battles, and if Trump floods the zone with unqualified picks some of them will get through by virtue of being slightly more qualified than the raging pedophile. |
Democratic Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, supports RFK, Jr appointment

Maybe that is some mind Jedi from Polis. ![]() “ Level the playing field for Americans internationally on drug costs…cap drug prices so that companies can’t charge Americans substantially more than Europeans pay." I think this ^ will be why he doesn’t get through. Pharma owns the Hill. They give gajillions of dollars and will go to the matt to get his nomination rejected. |
I’m so over pharmaceutical companies owning this country. And cavities are caused by junk food, not a lack of fluoride!
Personally, I’m excited for this appointment. It’s been a long time coming. |
I am not opposed to him. He’s right, Americans are sicker and more unhealthy than other countries because of our food supply and ingredients. This causes sickness where we then rely on big pharmaceuticals to improve. Keeping us sick. I agree though that it won’t be hard to block him because big pharma and the shit food lobby will fight like hell to bounce him out. |
He will get in. Dems don’t realize that this issue of crap food and big pharma isn’t partisan. |
The FDA has nothing to do with the costs of drugs, it doesn't control pricing. Exactly how will they cap the costs of drugs? This has been tried for decades, and it has always been killed. Biden has already done that too with IRA. I do agree with Trump that the US should ask what the cost is of a drug in the top 10 most developed countries in the world and only pay the average. Americans cannot subsidize drug development form the entire globe with unlimited prices. If the rest of the planet wants drug research and new life savings medicines, they need to pony up more too. Pay the average price on the planet. No more. It is only fair to our citizens. Trump had tried that before but was rejected. He should do it again. |
If you REALLY want to attack the system, you need to basically kill off PDUFA mandates. The FDA isn't even really funded by the US govt and taxpayers. They are funded through user fees paid by the pharmaceutical industry. Every 5 years the FDA has to beg like lapdogs with pharma industry lobbyists and reps for funding (PDUFA negotiations). In exchange, pharma asks for certain things in return.
It does open the door for undue influence by industry on the institution that regulates it since they control the purse strings. You could kill PDUFA. The problem is that Congress would have to step in and fill in the billions of dollars in loss of funding. The whole program exists in the first place because the US govt would never provide enough money before to allow FDA to keep up with technology and hire enough staff to keep up the number of submissions that came in. Pharma industry itself came up with this solution in order to give FDA more money to hire more staff to review drugs. Before this existed, it would take years and years for drugs to be reviewed since there wasn't enough staff. Companies had to file things on paper because FDA couldn't afford to modernize its IT infrastructure. Drugs that would potentially be able to treat people were stuck in review for years. If you could give iron clad guarantees that FDA would be adequately funded by USG going forward, then I'd agree - kill PDUFA and get rid of the conflict of interest. But we all know the USG can't do that since funding will always be politicized or held hostage (e.g. block FDA funding because of abortion pills). So we are back to square one again and have to rely on PDUFA. Otherwise, it will take far too long to approve drugs since they won't have nearly enough staff to handle the volume (for vaping alone they received over 1,000,000 applications to review). It will kill one for the US' biggest industries that makes it a technical super power in the world. Love it or hate it, pharma is a golden goose for the US that provides tons of high paying jobs and is a symbol of US power. China is desperate to try to catch-up to the US in biotech. |
He said diet and exercise instead of medicine like Ozempic for diabetes. I haven't heard anything specific about Adderall. He has some good ideas, like getting rid of processed food, but based on what he has said over the years, he selects what science and data to focus on. Almost everything has a side effect, but for the majority, those side effects don't outweigh the benefit. If he hand picks the data and doesn't allow scientists to show the entire picture, that will be a problem. Medicines that are proven to work may be limited while alternative medicine with little evidence of working may be promoted. It's concerning because it doesn't take much to spread misinformation. Look at what happened with the flawed report that said the MMR vaccine caused autism. Not true, but many believed and skipped that vaccine. I'm someone who uses alternative medicine along with Western medicine. I just hope we continue to get all the data and facts so we can make the best decisions. |
I’m ok with RFK because I’m so tired of the arrogance of medical professionals telling me what to take, requiring doctors visits, etc. Stop telling me to not do ADHD or weight loss drugs because it’s weak. If there’s a medical reason to not do them, great. But many doctors are so judgmental. |
Dems have been pushing for healthier food for a long time and republicans oppose them at every turn. The issue is not healthy food, but RFKs pseudoscience. |
Goddamn those scientists and doctors who know more about science and medicine than me! The Google and WebMD told me about how to treat my condition, therefore I know more than them. |
You have to mark as sarcasm, lest someone might think you’re serious |
Yes, stick it to all those “experts” |
