Whats funny is, majority of our men's national team spent some, most or all of their youth soccer getting developed outside the USA. Fact that can't be disputed. Yet this person wants to say the DMV is the weak area. Why isn't the rest of the country producing top national players? |
Typical response from someone likely with huge amounts of disposable income. Be objective about it, look at all the local kids that get looks, whether it be invites to YNT ID centers or ID2, so on and so forth. $$$$$$$ |
You must be missing the part that we are in a PAY-to-play system from day 1 The fact the pool of kids getting selected for USYNTs have $$$$ is because it takes money to play soccer here. The poor are filtered out of the $4000+ a season system |
| Didn't miss it, it was pointed out in the previous posts. |
Must have real deep pockets when referring to groups as 'The Poor'. |
Six players on the current roster is not a "majority." |
When did poor become an insult? Are you saying everyone can afford the exorbitant costs of top league soccer? |
You looked up the current Men's National team roster and saw only 6 players who spent time outside the US developing as youth players? |
Young and youth players are completely different. Once someone plays for club's senior men's (or women's) team, they aren't "youth" players anymore. A couple, other than the six, did play in another country. However, they were not in a youth team nor part of any academy set up. They were on a full senior men's team or the club. |
The rest of the country is producing national team players. That's the point. |
USYNT just released the U17s roster 11 of 27 MLS Academies are represented for that age group You're right, the rest of the country is producing national team players |

Talent is the overwhelming factor for all of these players, physican tangibles and mental intangibles that are well beyond the reach of most coaches, good or bad. There are top-notch academies that have dominant academy teams that do not have a single player on national teams. Do you really think they are not developing those teams well? Or is it possible they are getting the most of the players that they have? You are massively overestimating the difference that any club or coach can make, as are the clubs who take credit for players they coached for a year or two. Give me a break. |
Not one of 16 academies on list |
National teams selections has already been established as political. Nothing new and happens in every country. |
