Herndon high - what’s going on?

In the past (and even this school year since the current seniors were not impacted by SBG), Herndon kids have high acceptance at UVA, Tech, etc. The problem is going to be the Class of 2025 whose grades have been so badly affected by SBG.

What would you do if it were your kids’ school?

More then parents raising to every level of FCPS (Reid included) and PTA resigning because of it?

The whole PTA didn’t resign - just the president. And she didn’t resign because of SBG but for how she was treated and shunned for going to higher ups at FCPS after being ignored by principal.

Yea but because of her issues with SGB

Exactly. This is "equity," playing out in real time. I hope all of you who voted for this are happy with yourselves?

Next election cycle, find some legitimate conservatives to run for school board instead of a bunch of MAGA clowns and I'll be glad to vote for one of them.

I don’t think a moderate conservative can overcome the non-parent voter who will just vote blue down the line. Dems will always win in this area and these problems are theirs alone to solve.

Unfortunately, this is true. Might be nice to have only parents vote for school board.

DP. I have long advocated for this, but was called all kinds of names here on good ol' DCUM when I brought it up. There is zero reason anyone who is not a parent should get to vote on the school board. Zero.

I mean, I think people who live in fairfax with pre-elem aged kids might have a fair bit of interest in the matter...

They can vote when their kids hit K. Also school board should be up for reelection every 2 years, not 4, and they need to eliminate the at large positions.

Oh, and a requirement to be on the board should be that you have a child enrolled in an FCPS school at the time you're sworn in. No more childless communists on the board who are only interested in protecting their favorite dog park.

Gatehouse needs to shrink and/or it needs an office in every high school rather than a giant office building. They need to have their people co-located with the students and communities they serve. With a presence in the schools they can also be more easily utilized as subs. Each Gatehouse person needs to spend x hours in a classroom subbing.

The SB needs to go back and become apolitical (as in not aligned with political parties). Parties should not be allowed to endorse SB candidates.

Obviously change the way you vote. And encourage others to stop voting for democrats on the school board.

Beyond that though, either pay for private or move someplace else.

Let’s get back to the issue at hand: what can be done at Herndon to make it better for the teachers and students?

The board thinks the only solution is to move some Langley kids to Herndon. No one actually cares about fixing any actual problems there.

The problem is that there are too many people outside the school system influencing votes. Also it's very hard to change political votes because people are using that vote to signal many other things than just the one or two issues that they are having at a school.
