Holiday gifts for tweens and teens 2023

Not sure if it was mentioned but if you teen is a slob or has ADHD, those large make-up draw string holders is a must. Yes, the OCD in me can not handle all the make-up in one big pouch, but if your girl isn't the one to put it all away and keep it neat, this is a great gift to help your sanity.

Relatedly, I got dd this:

Which has also helped the make up/tools all over the place. At leas this way it’s visible and easy to access, while also being somewhat contained.

So glad my DD in this age range is not this status obsessed. And I'm not saying that to be superior but out of relief.

My 18 yo wants lift tickets for local skiing

My 16 yo ds wants cologne. Really pricey stuff too. Marley something or other. Creed. I don’t get it.

You're being smug.

Shopping for a 12-13 year old boy. What brand name hoodies are you buying? This kid is into anime and video games. Hoping to find something for him he doesn’t already have.

Any specific hoodie?

My sophomore boy asked for one from Carhartt this year. And one for his school winter sport team.

Last year he asked for GAP and I found a Volcom one he really likes (just a small chest logo). Mine prefers black or gray.

Are Nike techs still popular? He got those for birthday and Christmas last year. And more of a splurge last year was a Polo zip hoodie.

I swear my battle now is teaching him hoodies do not have to go in the laundry after every wear 😂

Ha! Mine now is teaching him that occasionally you do have to wash your hoodies. Yuck.

My Sophomore DS washes his hoodies after each wear but he’s a boy who has boy smells.

I don’t wash mine after every wear. He’ll get there eventually but for now, every wear.

The key search term is merch. Like Minecraft merch for all kinds of Minecraft stuff. T shirts, calendar, bedspread stuffies. Waterbottles. Etc etc.

One presumes other kids, no? Are your kids homeschooled?

-parent of kids who don’t really care about brand names, but can’t imagine needing to ask this question

It just depends on the kid -- but yes, other kids. And social media, though my 11 year old DD does not have social media or even a phone or iPad so for her it is just other kids. She is brand conscious, my 13 year old DD is not.

This year I am getting the hidden pocket scrunchies and the power bank for iphones for DD and the phone screen magnifier for DS.

Thanks! I think I will get my DS a phone screen magnifier, too! Had no idea those existed. My tween daughter is so easy to shop for. (and I'd be criticized like crazy for all the stuff I am getting her--all trendy stuff, but it will make her happy!) but my teen boy does not want ANYTHING! I love him for it most of the time, but it is so hard to shop for this kid!!

That is a good idea! My DD make up completely covers her sink in her small bathroom. There is a desktop one at PB that I might get. Has anyone bought it? Is it any good?

Boy moms…do they like fuzzy socks? I need a small gift for a 15 year old that I don’t know very well. I do know he doesn’t like to be cold (just moved from a warm climate).

My kid loves thick wool socks over fuzzy ones
