We don't have to keep things perfect all year. Help is on the way. As early as October, we COULD potentially get some under 12 EUA for Pfizer. As recent as yesterday, Pfizer board member and former FDA Commissioner said they still plan to submit data on under 12 in September and apply for EUA in October. So in the meantime, more open windows and outdoor lunches but hang in there.

+1 Let's choose to be optimistic about this year. We live in an area of high vaccination rates for those eligible and have universal masking in schools. |
For healthy kids under 12, there's currently less risk with COVID than riding in a car (with seatbelts and air bags) or the flu. If you're just "hanging in there" now, then you need to read up on the science and get away from the hysteria. As shown by data out of UK, unvaccinated kids have less risk of death with COVID than vaccinated people 35 or older. We should be celebrating the fact that kids are at such low risk, but some people who advocated so strenuously for schools to be closed and caused such damage to children don't want that to be the case. My kids don't wear masks except where legally required. We go to restaurants indoors with kids and bars without kids (both of which are packed). Go to Disney in Florida unmasked. People are living their lives in much of Arlington (drive through Clarendon on a weekend night). We never stopped living for the flu so no need to do something for less risk, especially now that us adults are vaccinated. The people on these boards are living on a different planet. |
Some dolt keeps calling me Ventilation Lady. I’m not her. I’m not even part of SR. Or APE. I don’t think APS will (or should) fully close. I think there will be pockets of quarantines. Our community has high vax rates, mandatory masks, and testing. Those will help us greatly. |
No. They said “file” for approval in Oct. Wouldn’t be available until early winter. |
Which is January. Uggghhh. |
You APEs can't stop attacking the same two parents... get a grip. But I kind of get it. It would really mess up your narrative to admit that lots of parents care about their kids being safe in school. You don't and there's something wrong with that. Most of us do though. Plus we see the delta numbers and trends. We can read for ourselves. We don't buy your fakenews "oh it's no worse than the flu" here. |
+1. NP. |
That part is a win for everyone, except maybe the private school teachers. |
One can reasonably be thrilled to have left APS regardless of the current status. |
Many parents will let others’ kids be the first in line. So it will be quite some time indeed until the majority of kids are vaccinated. |
It is SUCH A WIN. I hope these people never ever come back. |
Guessing you couldn’t pay them to. |
Is there an APS dashboard this year? There is no dashboard yet under Health and Safety for 2021-22 as there was last year under 2020-21. Just wondering if they are going to report in covid cases schoolwide as they did last year -- seems like they should. |
It's not fake news, but it is true the risk of COVID for healthy kids under 12 is less than riding in a car or the flu. If you don't follow the science, then that's your own problem. |
