Why aren't we talking about Novak Djokovic

He's an asshat. I can't believe he wasn't scorched for his COVID tournament. I will never get over that level of arrogance.

Hitting a lineswoman in the throat with a ball and getting defaulted is a sign of strength? Angrily throwing your racquet into the stadium and then subsequently smashing another racquet into the net post is a sign of confidence? Hosting a tennis tournament in the middle of a pandemic with no precautions causing participants and spectators to catch and spread covid is a sign of what? I could go on but I’ll stop.

Djoker is an a$$hole.

Also no one cares about Olympic tennis to begin with- many top players didn’t bother traveling for it. Total jerky move by him though- no one was forcing him to play mixed doubles but once he commuted he should have seen it through.

No, guys! It can’t possibly be that no one is talking about it because no one even knows about it because no one gives a shit about Olympic tennis, particularly a non-American competing in DOUBLES! It MUST be racism/sexism!!!

He was playing in the bronze medal singles match when he melted down and threw his racquet into the stands. Novak is coming off of two major championships, is one of the greatest players of all time, and is very famous, even among Americans. The point is that his bad behavior does not seem to tarnish his athletic accomplishments in the eyes of the public.

He’s coming off of 3 major championships not 2. He’s a phenomenal athlete and also an a$$. I watch a lot of tennis and can’t stand him.

Same and he isn't loved. People tend to ignore him and this behavior is nothing new. He was very vocal about being against women getting equal pay and his family has also acted horribly. They've insulted Federer and other players. He lacks class and is an obvious egotist.

This is so true. He's been an ass this whole time and there were lots of questions about how he got to the level he did when he did. He had some magic ability to not break down after lots of matches when before he was ridiculed for always backing out of matches. He is untrustworthy and fake.

Do you want to compare endorsement dollars? Serena has a whole lot more of those

The classless person was Steffi Graf who quit as McEnroe's partner when they reached the finals of mixed doubles so she could focus on singles, which she lost.

I saw McEnroe playing Borg in a seniors league, and he was again arguing with the refs. He wasn't really upset, just putting on a show for the crowd.

I saw him also and he wasn't putting on a show. McEnroe and his idiot brother ruined tennis in the US in a lot of ways. They are elitist, bigoted and have made remarks about black players that were beyond cringey.

Now this is some sexist bullsh*t. Men having been pulling out of mixed doubles and doubles matches FOREVER if they go deep in a tournament. People expect a man to pull out of doubles if they go far or lose early. It was just shocking that Steffi did it.

What Patrick McEnroe did to Taylor Townsend is abhorrent.

Funny that pp brings up Steffi Graf, the only tennis player ever to earn a Golden Slam *4 majors + Olympic gold medal*. Djokovic could've achieved that this year, but....NOPE!

As arrogant as he is, he has never claimed to be the GOAT (which he is). But yeah, he is an absolute asshole and should be heavily penalized. Stars like him get breaks for extremely unprofessional and intimidating behavior because they are the money makers. It’s time for stiff penalties.

I've never heard of this, but I don't follow mixed or regular doubles outside of Davis Cup. I would be upset with men that did this as well. Usually the men that do well in singles don't do well in doubles(perhaps because they have been dropping out of the doubles and I never noticed).

Is this the guy who was crying about how he was going to die of heat stroke?
