Screw further testing. The kids must be inoculated immediately.

Oh my gosh, and not a blue state among em. Who woulda thunk it?

That was my thought too. Other than early in the pandemic, I keep hearing about basically the same states.

For months I've been hearing about "two Americas" when it comes to Covid. We are seeing the perfect example of it now.

The Delta Variant Could Create “Two Americas” Of COVID, Experts Warn
If you are fully vaccinated, you are most likely to be safe. But in parts of the US where few people have gotten COVID vaccine shots, the Delta variant could trigger renewed deadly surges.

https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/peteraldhous/delta-variant-vaccination-covid-surges

Almost all of the COVID-19 deaths these hospital workers are seeing would probably have been avoided if the victims had been vaccinated. But the national campaign to get lifesaving shots into arms has come up against stiff resistance from conservative states in the South and Midwest — areas that, with relatively lower vaccine coverage, are now seeing their COVID-19 caseloads skyrocket.

We need testing, vaccines and behavior to get this under control.

Here's an excellent source for US pediatric hospitalizations visualizations.

In Georgia last week, around 7 out of every 100,000 children in the state—not per 100,000 pediatric coronavirus cases, but per living child—were hospitalized for Covid-19.

Makes sense. Schools are free-for-all, open to all, no mask mandates, no distancing. This is what parents wanted. We tried to protect the kids in 2020. No more. 2021 the pediatric death wave is here.

You can look up by state what the pediatric COVID hospitalization rate is:
https://app.powerbi.com/view?r=eyJrIjoiMzBjZDU5YTMtNjI1MC00ZGEzLTkyMzAtMzc2OGI5MmE2NTg3IiwidCI6IjQ4ZGIxMmFjLTVkYzMtNGQ1MS05N2VkLTVhM2RkZTYxOTlmYyJ9

US as a whole has peaked, but my state (VA) is lower now than in January and parts of March at 17 total. Nearby MD has barely seen pediatric COVID hospitalizations change throughout the pandemic.

For Covid or with Covid?

The with covid number (people testing positive and that being part of their dx sent to insurance) overinflates the for covid number by about 40%.

That's not how nationalized immunizations work.

right. and in DC that would mean 7 kids in the hospital, probably at least 3 should have been vaccinated.

most flu and rsv seasons are likely no different.

we don’t shut down schools for 3 kids in the hospital.
