Will Governor Larry Hogan overrule Montgomery County on any potential mask mandates?

The first day of school is August 31. Today is August 2. So yes, plans to open is the accurate description. It is not possible for them to have the first day of school until the first day of school. I would have thought that went without saying.

The OP is sending the message that vaccines actually work and that another mask mandate simply punishes those that have been vaccinated. You either believe the science or you don't. Kids <12 are not included here, simply referring to those who can get vaccinated, but don't. Stop reading the fear mongering, gasping we are all going to die nonsense. Understand the math, go get the vaccine, wear a mask if you feel uncomfortable. It's not that hard.

I'm sure you don't. I don't know what to say to people who like being told to wear mask as a part of normal behavior. Read the article, understand the math and realize that masks are not the the ultimate fix to this problem. Only vaccines are. OP has it right.

Nobody thinks it's normal behavior. It may, however, be normal behavior as part of a set of mitigation strategies during a pandemic. I can't make other people get vaccinated. I can wear a mask.

MCPS has mandated masks for everyone in schools.

The federal government never dropped its mask mandate on public transportation for everyone.

Down a little on the page, there is a chart that states MOCO is at 7.5/100K residents (7 day average)

Not trying to poke holes in anything, but they seem to be the same statistic with widely divergent numbers adn I just want to understand what these numbers mean.

The numbers are 57.6 vs. 7.5. The first is TOTAL over the past seven days, the second is an AVERAGE daily number from the last seven days. If you multiply 7.5 * 7 it's 52.5, which is close enough to the 57.6 figure that there could have just been rounding or slightly different methodology somewhere. I believe this is the issue.

Live near the river, so easy to jump to DC and VA to avoid the mask idiocy. About the same distance to stores/restaurants anyway, so one less hassle to think bout it.
