Will Governor Larry Hogan overrule Montgomery County on any potential mask mandates?

Anonymous
Does anyone think Governor Larry Hogan will overrule Marc Elrich of Montgomery County on any potential mask mandates?

Can he?

He has stated that he does not have that authority that is the state and county.

He overruled the County when they tried to prevent private schools from opening last Fall.

Why would any sane person want him to do that?

No.

He wants someone else to do what’s necessary for public health and look “neutral” in the process so crazy people like you can still vote for him.

But don’t fool yourself. He wants restrictions in place to save lives and businesses as much as us sane folks.

I think we will adopt the CDC guidelines, which have been updated to require masks inside if the infection rates hit a certain level. At least that's what I think it is. I "hope" that MoCo never hits those infection rates, because we have such a high vaccination rate.

Also, I'm really pissed at unvaxed people. No excuse for it now....it's available everywhere.

How dare those 10 year olds! Stop saying unvaxxed people and say unvaxxed adults that CAN but refuse the shot. What a privilege it is to not have any health issues preventing me from taking an EUA vaccine,
Miss work twice to do so as well as miss work to wait out the fevers. And don’t forget my awesome private health care to help me switch up all of my meds that now don’t work as well since I’ve had the vaccine.

Kids aren't vaccinated and cannot be. Are you pissed at them. We have a very high vaccination rate here so given the Delta variant we either need a different vaccine, people to change their behavior or better, both. Its not as simple as vaccinated adults as it is being pushed.

+1, my meds stopped working too. I thought it was just me and I have no other option to switch to and was sick for months and still have some lingering effects. Its a good thing my health issues prevent me from working or I would have lost my job.

Don't know about you but all the kids I see are wearing masks. I'm talking about unvaxxed people who can get vaxxed. That's pretty obvious.

No. He need to keep something in the bank for something more outrageous like trying to close schools again or shutting down businesses. Most people in moco never stopped wearing masks inside. The mask mandate is only inside. It’s not a big enough fish.

Health officers are state employees. Hogan didn't directly overrule him -- the state health department (at Hogan's urging) issued a memo to all health officers saying the can't do blanket closures.

In the case of MoCo, Gayles ordered all private schools closed without reviewing their reopening/safety plans. He can still close a specific school if there are issues, but can't close them all like that.

I rarely go out to stores but last time I went, a few days ago, I saw several kids not wearing masks. Most people are vaccinated. Its not enough anymore.
