No, the Trump-appointed Postmaster General ordered government property purchased with taxpayer money destroyed in order to make the Postal Service not work. Where have you all been?

Trump left office a half year ago.

Everyone, come get a load of this Deloitte consultant who thinks you can turn around an organization with an 80 billion dollar budget and 600,000 employees in six months!

It's so odd how Trump was able to destroy the Post Office two months before the election, but six months after he's left office, it's still impossible for anyone to do anything about it.

I would be happy if my mail carrier showed up more than twice a week. Seems like a good place to start.

It's not odd at all, it's much easier to hamstring operations than improve operations. Additionally, see 15:39 for an explanation for why DeJoy is still around. I can use smaller words if it still perplexes you.

This is a great example of that classic DCUM combo of being an obnoxious dick and not actually having any idea what you're talking about. So, to ask my question again: Where is my mail carrier? Why does she only show up twice a week? Where is she the other days? What is she doing? This has been going on for months. There are places in DC where mail service has essentially ended. Why? What's the point? What is being accomplished here? You'd think if the Postal Service was trying to save money, one of the last things they'd do is cut service in D.C. since they actually make money delivering the mail here (unlike delivering mail in rural areas). Do you have an actual answer? Anything beyond "Boo DeJoy!"?

And right here is a great example of a DCUM poster who is convinced that she is the smartest person in the room and others are dumb simply because they disagree with her.

USPS is constantly under enormous pressure to save money by eliminating positions. Mail carriers were already using overtime on a regular basis to deliver mail, but DeJoy implemented a prohibition on using overtime for delivering mail. If your carrier hit their 8 hours before getting to your house, you're not getting mail that day. If a truck from a regional center is late and your carrier has already left for their route, you're not getting mail that day. If your carrier assistant quit because they're tired of working 12 hour days with no overtime and no path to becoming a full-on carrier, you're not getting mail that day.

What's being accomplished? DeJoy thinks that these reforms are necessary for the long-term sustainability of the USPS.

When I was a mail carrier, no one worked overtime. After eight hours, you went home. The only way the mail got delivered was because USPS had a large number of temporary workers who were paid by the hour, who weren't unionized and who worked however long they were told to work.

Is this a DC thing? I’m in northern Virginia and we’ve had no problems at all with our mail. We get regular mail six days a week and we frequently even get packages delivered on Sundays.

What’s going on specifically in DC with mail right now?

I can’t remember the last time I got something in the mail that I wanted. I’d be happy not to get it 6x/week.

We get it daily in MD.

Odd how the mail only seems to be bad in DC

Maybe DC's infamous porch pirates have branched to committed federal felonies by stealing USPS mail?
