Is mail only a sometimes thing now?

Central NW DC

I moved one block before the 2020 winter holidays and submitted a change of address/forwarding request. One card containing money that was mailed mid-December finally arrived at the end of May. A second money card was returned to my parents’ house a week ago. I submitted inquiries on USPS.com but nothing came of it. I missed a call from a USPS representative and no one picked up the phone at any of the numbers/locations they provided for follow up.

Our regular carrier had a baby and was on parental leave for a few weeks around the typical tax deadline. We maybe got mail once while they were out on leave. The day they returned, we received lots of time-sensitive mail. There has to be a better way.

Yep. And it is costing people $.

My theory is that Democrats want DeJoy to destroy USPS so that they can privatize it. Otherwise, there is literally no excuse for allowing him to remain Postmaster General. Unless they like/want this outcome.

It takes time to appoint and confirm all the seats on the postal board and to indict and convict DeJoy.

Actually, maybe once (or twice) a week mail would be better. Save costs by limiting workforce, gas, vehicles, benefits, etc. Rotate it by neighborhood, like trash service. Meanwhile keep post office hours as is.

Do you really want junk mail delivered 6 days a week? Why are you complaining?

Is there an actul way to get rid of junk mail? I'm tired of recycling crap I never asked for.

End the Post Office. Let Amazon deliver the mail.

This seems to be a theme among all government workers, whether it's teachers or mail carriers or parking enforcement or what have you. People are using the pandemic as an excuse not to work.

Amazon uses the Post Office to deliver packages.

No, the Trump-appointed Postmaster General ordered government property purchased with taxpayer money destroyed in order to make the Postal Service not work. Where have you all been?

Everyone, come get a load of this Deloitte consultant who thinks you can turn around an organization with an 80 billion dollar budget and 600,000 employees in six months!

You certainly cannot if you keep the same leader in charge who destroyed everything. Since Democrats won't do that, then I presume that they like USPS destroyed. Otherwise why is Trump's Postmaster General still in a job 6 months into the Biden administration?

Because, despite Trump's damnedest efforts to the contrary, the government and its agencies are not the personal fiefdom of the president. The USPS's board of governors appoints the Postmaster General, not Biden. Neither Biden nor Congressional Democrats can unilaterally fire governors.

Is it really that hard for you to understand?

It's so odd how Trump was able to destroy the Post Office two months before the election, but six months after he's left office, it's still impossible for anyone to do anything about it.

I would be happy if my mail carrier showed up more than twice a week. Seems like a good place to start.

It's not odd at all, it's much easier to hamstring operations than improve operations. Additionally, see 15:39 for an explanation for why DeJoy is still around. I can use smaller words if it still perplexes you.
