Would KY jelly be a better alternative? |
I agree to try a different position. It's been decades since I've looked at the "instructions" that come in the box, but I remember them showing an illustration where the woman had one leg up on the toilet for insertion, and another with the woman sitting on the toilet for insertion. It also specified that when you take it out, to use the same position you used for insertion. |
It's called a hymen. It's normal anatomy, not a "blockage." |
+1 I agree. I’ve had two kids and I think these things are massive!!! |
I’m a grown ass adult woman who’s had 2 kids, and I can’t stand to insert a tampon. It just won’t go in right. I hate those instructions! I have to sit on the toilet. So tell her to try a different position too. The first few times I wore a tampon when I was 13/14-ish on vacation, I had to lay down on a towel to get it right too. |
Yes, because it's designed for insertion and doesn't have the same risks. |
Actually, unless the hymen is extremely rigid or thick, it shouldn't be a problem. |
I was having a heartattack as I was reading the previous post. |

Ugh, my daughter is struggling with this, too. I like the suggestion to lie down ... she hasn't tried that yet.
|
And if it is either of those, it is still called a hymen, not a "blockage." |
| So diva cups come in various sizes. DD 13 is under 5 feet tall, sails in the summer and uses a diva cup. I like them because they are smooth sided and somewhat squishable. |

Definitely Tampax Pearl light!
Also, it could be the way she's inserting it. If she wastes a few learning how to insert it, she'll be better off. Try left leg on toilet and inserting uppish instead of back. Then try it for the other leg and same direction. It will get easier! |
| Cora Minis smallest by far - smaller than smallest OB. On Amazon. |
+1. The plastic applicator is comfortable and easy to use, and will get the tampon properly placed. |
