Vienna is a solid club at the young ages.

Vienna is not a strong club at any age!

You're such a positive person - trashing every single team within a 30 team program. Meanwhile, our son plays on the top U11 team, and they are ranked #1 in Virginia and almost top 50 in the nation, if you care about those things. We don't, but you seem to. https://home.gotsoccer.com/rankings/results.aspx?Level=National&Country=USA&Gender=Boys&Age=11&state=VA&search=&pos=

This is what makes gotsoccer hilarious- “4-5-4 30.8%” if you want to believe that’s the best team in the state, more power to you.

Ok. You can also duck people and run the table. That looks like they are play real competition. Are they the best in the area? No. Are they punching way above their weight? Obviously yes. The whole point - which is true based on my kid’s experience at VYS - is that they teach well and consistently overachieve for a town that size. My kid learned how to play there, as did others, and they have no problems when trying out for top teams of much bigger clubs when they are older.

Using an actual ranking system which takes account of the results of games played and the sterngth of opponents (as opposed to just how many tournaments you enter) they are actually seventh in the state, and not in the top 200 nationally: https://youthsoccerrankings.us/rankings/VA/11/Boys/. Which is by no means a poor performance - but probably wouldn't qualify as "strong" either. And the U11 teams is the strongest age group - so I think it probably is fair to say that Vienna is "not a strong club at any age" without necessarily implying that it is a bad or weak club either. It's just a decent small club which is all it claims to be, and no bad thing.

Agreed. YSR is better. They are good. If you live in Vienna, where else would you go U9-11 to play that is demonstrably better? Arlington? SYC? Those are babysitters with whistles who tell the kids when to go to chase the ball. They aren’t teaching a thing.

whatever the coaching staff at VYS is telling you, stop drinking the kool-aid they are pouring for you and stop using GOTSOCCER rankings as your reference point.

Youthsoccerrankings factors in EVERY GAME that a team plays, as long as there is an online record of the game result.

GOTSOCCER only factors in tournaments and SOME leagues but not others. It is a points based system IN ORDER TO PROMOTE AND MARKET TOURNAMENTS... so if you play 14 tournaments a year you will be #1 in the state.

In other big states like CA and TX with better weather, there are U9-U12 teams that play in 2 tournaments PER MONTH just to get high ranking scores. so stop using this as your benchmark.

GotSoccer points are on the same level as your kid's book sales contest booby prizes.

Agreed. Not an answer to the above points.

My kids are older now so I cannot give you a specific answer as to where else I might go. But it would be based on the coach, not the club. Are you sure you're analysis of SYC and Arlington is correct? I cannot contradict you since I don't see games from these age groups any more but it seems unlikely to me that ALL the coaches at these clubs are just baysitters with whistles.

At U11 his team is not top in any state, county, or country. Idiots like you post stuff about lil Johnny winning the Arlington tournament. Everyone knows that there isn’t a ranking system that is accurate and all it tells you is that the top 20 or so are worth playing. The fact that your even brought up you sons ranking means you know nothing. I stand by my comment, VYS isn’t a strong club. Keep bringing donuts and coffee to the game.

VYS is a decent, small club as I posted above. You are correct that it is not a "strong" club and that the U11 team is not top in anything. Just out of interest, why do you call the other poster an idiot, state that he knows nothing, and instruct him to keep bringing coffee and donuts to the game? It's not clear to me that those comments helped anyone in the entire universe.

Huh?
Details are welcome. Unless you have an axe to grind, then go ahead lie and exaggerate.

Vienna 06G 0-7 VRSC 06G at McLean cup
Vienna 06G 0-3 VRSC 06G at NCSL last weekend

Vienna 07G 0-7 VRSC 07G at NCSL last weekend

Watch out McLean!

Vienna is actually not a bad club if you make their first team most of them are top 30 but I would stay away from their 2nd teams they don't win very much. Most of their loses are by alot sometimes not always.
