Ah yes. The first and ONLY team of a VRSC beat the 2nd team of VYS. So, so much better! Yawn...BTW, newly founded isn't 2018...

Total f’n idiot from VRSC. Their 07 boys just lost 12-0 to Annandale (yes, they still have a team) in the first round of State Cup. All that means - their 07 boys are facing challenges. |

| My kids play for McLean, but my daughter played against Vienna and they have a good team in her age group. Vienna is a solid club. On the girls side, they certainly do quite well. U12 girls won their division in Jefferson Cup and are ranked No. 5 in Virginia by gotsoccer (I know the rankings are not perfect). U13 girls are ranked No. 1 in Virginia and were a finalist at Jefferson Cup. U15 girls are ranked No. 7 in Virginia and won their division at Jefferson Cup. U16 girls are ranked No. 2 in Virginia. This is a pretty good record for a small club. |

Got soccer only takes into account tournaments and certain leagues but not others.. |

Yes, you are right regarding the rankings, but Vienna is ranked 11th, 7th, 10th, 20th in the age groups I mentioned in youthsoccoerrankings. I think it is safe to say that Vienna has some good teams regardless of which rankings system we use. |

This is all ridiculous. VRSC is going to be a fine choice for some people. So is VYS or any other club. If you are going to compare results though, please compare club A top teams versus club B top teams and second teams versus second teams, etc. At younger age groups Vienna has up to four teams and at older age groups they typically have two. There is a big difference in those teams, as there is at any club. Objectively, on the girls side Vienna top teams typically rank anywhere from 5-15 in the state (based on actual results tabulated by YSR). That's collectively the best by any NOVA club that doesn't have the draw of full ECNL - and its not close. |

VRSC isn't horrible they have some good teams most of them are mediocre but they have stand out teams the problem with those 07 boys is that they were placed in the vysa state cup in my opinion they should be placed in the vysa presidents cup along with their 08 boys I don't see why they get so much hate they are just a club like any other trying to evolve the club along with the players. |

Back to the OP’s question...
OP, how old is your DC? My #1 recommendation for a U9 is to try to get them to be aggressive and go to the ball in tryouts. My dc plays for VYS and years ago, she basically stood around and ball watched during tryouts (she was nervous). She was lucky to even make their lowest team, but is now on their 2nd team (2 years later). |
