OP here, I put HBCUs at the bottom because they objectively have worse metrics than the other public colleges. I never made any normative claims about why that is. As someone put earlier, I know it’s because of a lack of funding, and many kids who go there had families that were impacted by systemic racism in the past that still affects the present because of lack of opportunity, generational wealth, etc.. |
While it is true they are both land grant recipients, they are not the same classification. Tech is an R1 and Virginia State is a master's level institution as far as their Carnegie classifications are concerned. Hugely different scope, scale, practices, etc... That said, one is not better than the other, but they are fundamentally different. |
I don’t know why anyone thinks VT and JMU are same tier. VT is higher than JMU and GMU- though GMU is catching up. |
This thread is nothing more than a bunch of subjective nonsense...
Compared with many of its neighboring/nearby states, VA has an enviable number of decent state schools and programs to choose from. |
I'm sorry you're too ignorant to follow along on why it was racist. If you won't make any attempt to understand and change then you're going to have a very tough life. |
we see you, UVA booster poseur ![]() |
Did you completely ignore OPs response? |
Shit. JMU isn't on VT's level. Not even close. And the two HBCUs are objectively the worst public colleges in VA based on graduation rates, incoming student stats and just about every other quantifiable metric. Not sorry. Facts can't be racist, y'all. They're just facts. |
Did you completely miss the explanation of why it’s racist? |
There was none but please explain to me how I am still racist after my second response. |
It wasn’t an explanation. It was nonsense. |
One of the richest self-made people we know is a thirty-something who went to Radford.
I say this as an Ivy double grad whose kid is trying to decide between Ivies, UVA and W&M. Rankings give you an average, with long (sometimes very long) tails on either end. |
It’s been explained twice. |
No it literally hasn’t, please refer me to it |
