We left McK too and will never go back to APS I haven't been contacted. I have a feeling the response on my reason for leaving was crystal clear so no need to contact me.

McK was down about 100 kids at the start of the year. Which is ironic given that the school was overcrowded by about 100. Fewer kids means Reed may not be completely full when it opens in the fall.

Catholic is 6-7k per kid if you are a parishioner. Usually 10-12k per kid if you are not.
We also left because of the over reliance on computer games to teach lower elementary levels.

True! I’d say that our school is down 10-12% since spring 2020 levels. I know of more leaving for 2021-2022.

Well 10% would help with overcrowding. Maybe that was SB master plan...

It’s the wrong 10% if they care about test scores.

Oops sorry we are fcps, I didn’t realize I was in a non-FCPS thread

They don’t. They only care about budget and being re-elected. We aren’t Fairfax.

We have one child leaving an APS high school at the end of the year.

APS emailed today to find out if my 9th grader that left "due to Covid" would be coming back to APS next year.

AS if that is why we left ! He accepted Jan. 2020 pre-Covid...and the application process was back in Fall of 2019. Many of his buddies left then too; pre-Covid.

Because...? Are you suggesting that the ones that could afford private boost the scores?

It's crazy to think 8000 private slots were available throughout the area. Some must have homeschooled or redshirted.

So, are you implying scores are not a reflection of socioeconomic factors?

Lots of people probably moved elsewhere too with remote work. Is it mostly missing Ks or more spread out?

Vast majority of this is missing K and some elemntary kids.

Middle school is down just 140 kids; high school down like 50 kids. Most kids in APS are staying in APS.

PP may not say it but yeah, the 10% that left were not the ones who were at the lower end of test scores. Not PC to say but that's reality.
