Herndon Youth Soccer vs. Total Futbol

What is HYS doing? Partnering with MU and Arlington is of questionable value to anyone. Nobody who lives near Herndon is going to drive to Arlington. And MU... really?

There are several kids who already drive to Arlington from the Herndon area. I'm always a bit skeptical as to what such a "partnership" really means though. I doubt Arlington are going to take Herndon kids who aren't good enough, and nor would they ever have turned away one that was.

Maybe this will give some of the better Herndon kids chance to practice with the Arlington team once a week - similarly to what Arlington currently do for their own red team?

+1. All that was said was these partnerships were providing opportunity for players who wanted to experience playing in those leagues. Further details were not given.

Is this Arlington partnership real or a joke? My kids are at Arlington and I have not heard anything. Maybe this is a one-sided partnership only HYS is aware of?

Why would Arlington advertise such a partnership? For Herndon it might help them attract good younger players who buy into the pathway to Arlington pitch. For Arlington , perhaps it improves their teams, but what does it do for current Arlington kids/parents?

Plus Herndon probably need to announce good news right now if they are about to start a cage match with TF.

Can anyone at MU confirm the partnership with Herndon?

I have seen nothing from MU although our team manager is not great with passing on communication quickly.

I also have not seen anything on social media which is where I sometimes find things out that way first

People, the top Herndon teams would smash the MU teams. There is not much value in partners with a team that is about to cater in a league that is about to cater.

TF has a great group of coaches. It is nearly impossible for HYS to replicate that competency. NM also has a portfolio of deep relationship with college coaches across the spectrum. There is possibly no one in this market besides CW @ McLean who has as many relationships. The best solution is the let TF continue with its current teams and then work out something after those teams move on. I can almost guarantee that many of the HYS will follow the TF coaches. HYC is just another club w/o TF.

Maybe - I think it may turn into a mess.

Where will the TF coaches go with those teams which can offer an equivalent level of soccer? What club wll be wlling to displace their own teams in their entirety - even LMVSC would find that difficult.

I suspect that HYS will end up with a league membership, some of the kids, and few decent coaches. TF will end up without a league membership, the pick of the kids, and most of the coaches. Everyone will lose. And my guess it's because HYS wants more money and doesn't realize that TF earned its money fair and square.

Youth soccer clubs are exactly as good as thier coaching staffs. A good coaching staff and the club grows quickly and the teams peform well. A bad coaching staff and the whole thing evaporates in no time.

HYS directors are about to destroy their club.

Making this change in the middle of a pandemic ? They should also ask themselves how many new people show up to tryouts each year.

Has anyone asked TF coaches if they are no longer coaching at HYS next year?

^ This. HYS may end up without much of a girls side depending on what NM has in store. As it has been for years, hardly anybody from outside of the club ever shows up to tryouts.

People go to tryouts when their club implodes. If HYS moves forward with this then it will be their kids going to tryouts everywhere else. Even fewer kids than normal will show up to a club in the middle of a fight with its coaching team.

I lived through this BS at CYA when they decided to mess around with an excellent TD a few years ago. The TD left for a club which wanted him. Then coaches left, teams left, kids left, teams that remained were uncompetitive. Basically the whole thing becomes a great big mess.

HYS does not want a for-profit contractor running their club anymore.

I'm still confused by these partnerships? Are the good HYS players supposed to now transition to Arlington and MU teams? Are we supposed to wait to be asked to join? What does this mean?
