How long does it take to love Schitt’s Creek?

I don't think it is meant to be that. But I would really appreciate some recs for laugh out loud funny. I watch a lot of comedy specials, but would love any sitcom that actually brings out my cackle, so keep them coming! (seriously, no snark, keep them coming!)

Ted Lasso
I'm Sorry
Life in Pieces

I didn’t really get SC at first but came to like it, not love it. Just finished Ted Lasso and I absolutely love it, so many laugh out loud moments.

Just like The Office, I could not get into Schitt’s Creek. Both are awful IMO.

I like the character and love Moira in general, but even when I enjoy an episode, I will just forget I’m watching it and neglect to watch more, which isn’t a great sign. Especially since we’re always looking for something light and funny to watch.

I loved Ted Lasso though. I think I just enjoy the culture clash on that one more because the protagonist isn’t cynical, and the cynicism of others is played as a joke. I have really grown to detest cynicism and even though it’s not the heart of Schitt’s Creek, there’s a lot of it in the early episodes and it just puts a damper on it for me.

It’s actually a relief sometimes to realize a show everyone loves just isn’t for me. It’s like a reminder that I still can still think for myself and don’t have to like things because everyone else does.

I don’t understand what is eyeroll worthy about the bolder statement.

Yes, they both must be objectively awful. It couldn’t possibly be that people have different sense of humor, and yours (to the extent it exists) doesn’t fit with these shows.

DP. It is obnoxious in its pretension and condescension.

Yeah, I couldn't with Schitt's Creek.

Some comedies I like:
Nora from Queens
Superstore
Modern Family
Fresh off the Boat
Blackish
The Goldbergs

I like Schitt’s Creek, but I love Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara and Chris Elliott from their heydays, so it was just fun to see them acting together. And fwiw, Ted Lasso was a let down for me—too cheesy. And I never liked the American version of The Office.

I thought it was ok until David met Patrick in mid to late season 3, and after that I was really hooked. I didn’t think it was bad before that though, just not something I couldn’t wait to get back into.

Reading these replies, I'm glad I gave up after 3 episodes. I can't imagine sitting through a couple of seasons hoping that it'll improve for me. And I generally love Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara.

Ok, this makes sense. These shows are pretty much the same style of comedy.

My DH felt the same way and we both like the other shows you named OP. Really it just depends on whether you have the time to “get through” the first few seasons because you can’t really skip them - part of what makes it a great show is the evolution of the characters over time.

Well, that would be an improvement because they were insufferably dull and predictable in the first episode. Not giving it another chance.

BTW, Catastrophe is spit out your bever of choice funny.

I'm PP that recommended Ted Lasso etc and agree that Catastrophe should go on the list. If you haven't seen I'm Sorry check it out.

OP here. Don’t go shaming me for wanting to stick it out - friends told me how much the later seasons loved them. Anyway. I think the show I’ll have to binge after is Insecure. I only watched a couple out of order but I think I love Issa Rae.
