Why won't people address the massage shootings as the mental health issue rather than racism?

I'm not sure what you referring to here. No mass murderer "gets a pass" because of mental illness. They all face at least a lifetime in prison.

Because it's insulting. It's always a mental health issue when it's a white guy shooting up people in schools, churches, malls, movie theaters, concerts, etc. but for other groups, it's terrorism or proof the racial or ethnic group they belong to is more violent.

He targeted Asian women for a reason and he killed them. A sexual fetish leading to violence should be seen as a hate crime.

I actually left out the word Asian (ADHD brain) but either way, you look at it, it can be grounds for a hate crime. Sex and/or race/ethnic origin.

But this is a murky area given the popular link between Asian massage businesses and sex.

It wasn't though.....he also killed two white peole and injured a Hispanic man as well, but that's buried and not reported as widely.

How about the DC Beltway snipers? They assassinated a majority of white people, were they racist attacks too?

How about the DC naval yard shooter? An overwhelming number of his victims were white people.

How about the mass shooting in 2019 in Va Beach? An overwhelming number of victims were primarily white.

You can't have it both ways...come on now. When a minority shoots and kills a majority of white people, it's never about race. Yet when the tables are turned it's absolutely 100% about race. Which is it?

If there's clear racism I doubt anyone would downplay it. But we're looking at confounding variables. Massage parlors seem to be commonly staffed by Asian women in some areas, so you've got massage parlor, Asian, and women as variables and we don't know which was his motive. We know what he said, which might give us a clue, but other evidence may contradict that. We don't know yet. I think it's weird to want to insist you know the motive without evidence.

Black people get killed even for the suspicion of a crime. White mass murderers get fast food on the way to jail. Black people suffer character assassination. White mass murderers get their faith, their family, their wonderful high school yearbook picture featured. Black people, even when innocent, get far harsher penalties. Indeed most of these White mass murderers get fairly gentle punishments.

I don’t know why we have to keep gentling people like you along. If you can’t see the disparities at this point, it’s because you’re actively looking away.

I think they are mostly Asian. I've seen police reports in Fairfax, and it seems to me that is the case. Remember when the owner of the Patriots was arrested in Florida? That was an Asian massage parlor. There was also talk of trafficking at that time.

With the amount of time to release names, I wonder what the status was with the one in Atlanta.

No excuse for the horrific murder. But, don't paint it as an anti-Asian thing when there were lots of other Asians that he could have gone after--restauraants, nail salons, dry cleaners....
