We are also glad to not pay for it.
I’m struggling to understand why your kid would play a final year of club if he no longer wants to, has no plans to play in college, and you no longer want to pay for it. The exercise and camaraderie are great, but if he has plenty of other friends the social aspect is covered, and he can get a good workout in a variety of ways.
I am a bit surprised by the people claiming that their kids got burned out by soccer in HS. I know plenty of kids who dropped the sport in elementary or MS, but almost none still playing in HS who felt like quitting entirely. Keep in mind that rec soccer is excellent for kids who want a less intense experience, and all the kids I know who played in HS but did not commit to a college team have loved playing club soccer in college.
