You repeat the same crap all the time. our area has good HS soccer, so I’m sorry for you? |
| My DS stopped club the spring of junior year, although continued with varsity soccer in the fall of senior year. He was a 3 season athlete and taking a lot of AP classes so club soccer had to go. He was not aiming for college play so academics had to come first. |
7 ECNL/GA clubs in NOVA, in 4 different age groups, means 28 ‘Elite’ teams that are rostering 20+ kids per team. That’s around 600 kids and there are ~60 avg to large size High Schools (public + private) in NOVA. Even if a 1/3rd don’t play HS, the bigger NOVA High Schools in the more affluent areas are going to be able to easily fill their starting lineup out with players at that level (albeit some may be Fr/So), and some will have a good number of reserves — like the poster above. |
That's 88%. |
We’ll still make the ref call the game early when we hit that 8-0 mark on your team lol |
We? Time to stop living vicariously through your daughter. Accomplish something yourself. You can do it. I have faith in you. |
| To the OP. You are so right. Life’s too short to worry about what others think about you or what others want from their own life. Your kid should do what he/she wants to do their senior year. Others may want to spend all their time playing soccer and playing “D1” ball all the time once they get to college. Good for them, if that’s what they want and good for yours if he/she wants something different. |
I’m struggling to understand why your kid would play a final year of club if he no longer wants to, has no plans to play in college, and you no longer want to pay for it. The exercise and camaraderie are great, but if he has plenty of other friends the social aspect is covered, and he can get a good workout in a variety of ways. I am a bit surprised by the people claiming that their kids got burned out by soccer in HS. I know plenty of kids who dropped the sport in elementary or MS, but almost none still playing in HS who felt like quitting entirely. Keep in mind that rec soccer is excellent for kids who want a less intense experience, and all the kids I know who played in HS but did not commit to a college team have loved playing club soccer in college. |
| yeah why should you start playing soccer AT ALL at 6 years old if you have no plans to play in college |
Exercise and friends and it beats watching tv or playing video games. |
Is your kid cut or in JV and you can’t handle it? Or is your HS loaded with farmers who can’t play? |
Farmers? What farms are in nova? On a serious note, what is the level of HS soccer vs ecnl? |
Happens across many sports: Some folks actually choose college for the academics. And it's not a surprise just by reading this forum, with all the politicking and negativity that exists in youth soccer and crazy/intense parents that some kids would have the self awareness to say this is BS. Kids quitting in HS to suck face with their bf or gf? Makes a lot of sense to HS kids I bet. I just hope their love for the game isn't gone completely that they don't pick it back up as adults for fun I have a relative who was all state in HS with D1 offers in sport but chose a different school and isn't playing anything but club at the moment. Spouse did same thing. Whether or not they regret it who can say--but regret probably isn't the right word, but they do wonder what it might have been like if they had continued playing. |
| DD is committed so practicing with club. Not interested in travel during this pandemic. |
BS. Not even Battlefield nor Riverside has those numbers. Maybe and Arlington school.....maybe....still doubtful |
