Charles Allen probably will move to ban cars. I'm only half joking.

But how would the carjackers stay warm in the winter months? Quite a dilemma for him there.

If someone doesn't run against him and make hay of that loser comment, then I just don't know.

I am pro-gun and pro-car. I feel bad for this kid. I'm not sure what the answer is. He is old enough to know better, jail won't help him, foster care likely won't help him.

Thank goodness he didn't get hurt and thank goodness he didn't kill anybody. Part of my punishment for him would be to sit with all the people he carjacked and listen to how traumatizing that is. I'm sure he doesn't think he hurt anybody, which is part of the problem.

Also, totally off topic, but how is it that someone posting for ABC News doesn’t know the difference between carjacking’s and carjackings?

He has 10-12 more years until DC can stick him with a felony so why would he bother turning away from crime?

If there was no police, this kid would never be carjacking. Defund police!

Have to wonder if this uptick in crime is related to defund and decriminalize efforts led by the SF liberals on our City Council.

Except that no one has defunded anything other than our public schools. Net MPD budget has been increasing year after year.

How many armed or unarmed carjackings happened during the last 12 months? How many cases were done by these four young men? From baobao:
“ Two teens, two men accused of Montgomery County armed carjackings, robberies
Eight incidents happened Jan. 29 to Feb. 19”
They may be responsible for cases in DC or other counties in the area.

Exactly! You can't expect kids or parents to hold any responsibility. Those shiny 2013 Toyota Corollas are to blame!

You must live in a really shitty area if you are trying to normalize this individuals behavior.

In the winter months, they can ride the metro around all day harassing people on their commutes while also exposing themselves to unsuspecting passengers.

I love the folks that say countries with gun control laws don’t have these issues. It must be the gun makers fault!

This is a similar argument to what we know about Covid - cases are highest in countries with high rates of obesity. It’s good manufactures fault! All that processed food! Take it all off the market!

What do these two things have in common? No personal responsibility is taken or expected. Just throw excuses and money at it. Problems go away!

But they don’t.

I feel bad for the fact that he was allowed to get to the point. Either he has an atrocious upbringing or he has severe behavioral issues or both and since he is 12, something was not done for him somewhere. He might be old enough to know better -- or not. Twelve is kind of in between and I suspect his background is very troubled.

The question is What can be done? Is he able to be rehabilitated? Maybe. Or is he going to become someone with ongoing criminal issues hurting others with each crime he commits? Gun control is irrelevant here since this is a mindset and he would act out in other ways. I'd like to see a 12 y.o. taken off this path and lead a crime free life and sometimes it's possible but the interventions usually aren't consistently there.

I wonder if these type of crimrs done by these young kids are for some sort of gang iniation. You gotta do XYZ 4x to show your worth and hard-core before you're allowed in.

Most importantly, we should be asking if any of these young criminals have a father at home.

I feel like it needs to be pointed out, that he did not legally purchase that weapon. Just like he did not legally purchase the vehicle. He should be charged with both.

The point is: where and how does a 12 year old get a gun? That is a huge social problem, not only a "this kid" problem.

No, the point is that it's clear you think gun control would fix this kind of problem. I won't. Horrible people who illegally obtained guns, put the gun in his hand.

But if there weren't literally. hundreds of millions of legal guns, guns would be much harder to come by. They simply don't have these problems in countries where guns are banned.

Any clue how many guns are coming through the Biden/Harris open borders as we speak?

Not only are the cartels bringing in guns, they’re funneling in the most lethal drugs all over this country.

Anyone here proud of Joe and Kamala?

I'm not happy with the step backwards on the border, no.
