Now, I just switched from R to D to vote for Blair (hopefully) or whoever has the best shot against Elrich

Same. Went from I to D fur the last presidential election. Elrich needs to go.

Please he needs to go. How can anyone say he is nothing but a failure. No leadership and had fundamentally let our children and the county residents down. Then again, Marion Barry got re-elected so what do I know...

Why shouldn't he?

Well, maybe I'm being naïve or optimistic, but after he barely squeaked out the nomination, he's set up to get absolutely SMOKED this time.

So, if pride is important to him, he would bow out now, before Blair or Reimer dominates him

Based on what? A DCUM straw poll? That overwhelmingly made it look like Floreen and Hogan were going to take MoCo last time?

No, because if I remember, he won by less 100 votes.

and I HIGHLY doubt that he's won over any new voters. So that number of his will only go down.

He's also the incumbent.

MoCo voters are a lot more left-populist than DCUM commentators. The vast majority support very cautious reopening measures, based on what I see. He definitely caters to that group, which seems to be the silent majority. I think most people will be okay with him since he's for a baseline of Not Killing People.

Anonymous wrote:Actually, now that I think about it, I will probably vote for Elrich.

I'm not so much pro-Elrich as I am anti-anti-Elrich. The people who whine about him so much as if he is the second coming of Josef Stalin crack me up.

Again I don't love Elrich - he's just an old curmudgeon in a Che Guevara shirt yelling at the sky. Fine by me, he does nothing. He was elected by a ragtag group of hippies and leftists and union people who are completely harmless because all they ever due is argue in the basement about Marxist theory and tree canopies. But I like to see rich people whine. Especially the nouveau-riche who recently moved into multimillion dollar houses and then complain about having to pay taxes. Serves you right. What none of you realize is whoever is at the helm will have very little impact of what actually happens here. What people don't know is that the county can't operate at a deficit, so everyone will have to make budget cuts and nobody will be happy and everyone is going wrap what they do in social justice language. It's all the same. Nothing at all will change. So I'm going to vote for the guy who makes you all mad just because he doesn't fit your image of wealth and prestige or whatever and makes you whine. I like seeing rich people get all bothered and outraged over things. It makes me laugh.

You sound like a strange version of the stick-it-to-the-liberals Trumpers, but suit yourself.

Not a Trumper. I would never vote for an actual fascist just to own the libs, but I will definitely vote for Old Man Yells At Cloud (Elrich) to own the libs. Sometimes the liberals just need some owning, and MoCo is the literal capital of Shitlibistan.
By the way, leftists hate liberals just a s much as conservatives.

No, it’s the owning the libs attitude that’s reminiscent of the Trumpers- voting for someone merely to piss a certain group off.

Like I said, if it makes you feel better, suit yourself. There are plenty of non-rich moderate-for-Moco Dems like myself (and my independent DH who I keep trying to convince to register Dem to he can vote in the primary) who doesn’t think Elrich is best suited to run the county. Have two young kids so I have a lot more to consider when casting my vote than pissing off some Bethesda elite.

The difference between you and me is that you are still gaslit enough to believe that it actually makes any difference.
All things being equal - which they are, entirely - I'm going to vote for the person who pisses off the Bethesda elite, with glee.

Have you been paying attention to any of his executive orders throughout the pandemic? There’s been some really nonsensical stuff. Not a fan of how he handled the childcare issue and keeping things like playgrounds closed longer unnecessarily. The last year has really exposed what a poor manager he is, and how out of touch he is.

True, but my information source is not a white man.

She won't run. It will be Hans or Blair. Probably Hans. I think I'm gonna sit this one out. I hate all of them.

I think Blair probably would have been fine, and may have won if it weren’t for the Trump effect- a lot of unease about electing another inexperienced businessman. But really, county exec is probably the right sort of position for someone with a business and management background.

Blair needs another go at it. Please. Let’s draft him!

I don't think that county executive is the right sort of position for someone with a business and management background and no experience in government.

Please, not Reimer, who has clearly sold out to the real-estate developers.
