22-0 at U9

if it makes you feel any better, the finalist from the other bracket, steel united, won their group games 22-0, 11-0, and 4-2.

It would not surprise me if the tournament stops keeping score after 22 goals. It's suspicious that syc and steel both had 22 goals, that's too much of a coincidence so they must have stopped counting at that point.

Steel United must have had a lot of confidence going into the final game with a 37-2 goal difference but then they got smashed 8-1.

One team that shouldn't be in the bottom bracket? Shame on the coach for sandbagging. Two teams that shouldn't be in the bottom bracket? Shame on the tournament organizer and age group coordinator.

Their point system is bizArre as fucc. Goals give you one point. Wins give 6 points. Draws give 3 points. Losses give you 0 points. A clean sheet gives you one point...........so this tournament favors gapings of that caliber 22-0 and sh1t like that

Yeas they were in too low of a bracket. But after 7 goals against you your pride should kick in somewhat. Your kids just out of competitive nature should fight back playing slightly more aggressively. I know if it were me I would would foul a little bit harder after goal 3 and by 7 someone's gonna feel my frustration. Im taking a red card just to stand up for my teammates .

Thanks coach.

My DS is a 2012 and has played all these teams. Right now, SYC Blue and Bethesda's top team are just miles ahead of everyone else in the 2012 group. A lot of it stems from the fact that they played 7v7 as U8s before COVID hit. They are very good but just a lot further along in patterns of play. It'll take a couple years but other clubs will catch up and beat them.

Both squads do have some really good players however. Very sound and technical.

Folks need to brush this off. Huge blowouts happen at this age. It's not what you should be focused on but on your child's individual development. And yes, my DS team has lost to both clubs badly.

Sounds like tournament organizers are terrible. Fix the brackets

My DS is on the same boat with losing badly to both of them early in the season as well. His teammates were impressed by how good they were but their esteem wasn't hurt by the blowout. I can tell you that they were excited to play and have been working hard to improve. Having a good coach matters. My DS and team have improved and would probably still lose to them. It's U9, I'm not worried. My DS is improving and that's all that matters.

Such blasphemy is against DCUM soccer forum standards. You must be worried. Personal improvement is way down the list here. If your u9 son is not at the best club (the one we choose during the current month to be the best), doesn't have a former ManU player as a coach, gets beat 22-0 and still has self esteem, then he might be better off going to lacrosse or one of those other drop out sports.

Honest question...where do parents say this stuff on this board? I mean even hint of saying any of this stuff? Can you provide a like to where a parent says this? I'd love to read it.

All true, and the SYC coach is a pretty good guy and I would call him a friend.

But he is HORRIBLE on the sidelines during games. Every terrible stereotype of a youth soccer coach rolled into one pugilistic figure.

So is it the coach with a degree in psychology and course work concentration in child development? That's ironic.

All true, and the PP is a pretty good person and I would call PP a friend. But he can recite Mein Kampf in three languages and he does it with an erection.

Is he worse than that u-little boys coach SYA had? He was legendary in a bad way.

So he's Will Ferrell from Kicking and Screaming

the fact a parent is keeping track of the record and scores is kind of creepy.

Caught a game of a friend's son who plays for Arlington Red when they played this coach last fall. SYC coach had steam coming out his ears and veins popping the entire game even when the score was 6-0, 10-0 and 14-0. Screaming to push the ball up the field as quickly as possible to the most athletic kid and demanding a high press sprint inside the build out line until the final whistle. Their parents will be happy until is stops working around U11 when kids start to become actual defenders and team tactics become more evolved. Not sure the SYC coach will make it to U11 without a few heart attacks. How are these meatheads allowed anywhere near kids?
