I think this is a good question regards SYC player development, which is getting knocked on some other threads. Is constant pressing and tactical fouling at younger age groups when those types of fouls are not as likely to actually result in yellow and reds developing the players?

they are just trying to build a hype machine by getting some wins at a local tournament.

build a hype machine

Regardless of the coach's approach, are the kids on the team getting better at soccer? are they learning the game and enjoying at age of 8? If so, then I can see why parents would stay.

There is no reason to run up a score at the Ulittle stage. There are a myriad of ways to keep the score reasonable. No way would I allow my DS to play for a coach whoberates his players and runs up the score or a club that permits this behavior. Shame on the coach. Shame on SYC.

Well, good luck to all. I'll be interested to see how it turns out, although I suspect my eyes will be on the Euro Cup by then

I love nothing more than giving a bunch of spoilt rich kids a good ole fashioned a$$ whooping let them know the Potomac School education is meaningless on the soccer field against a bunch of blue collar kids that will outwork them all day long ROFL.

I'm impressed, you even checked the opposing parent's W2's and bank statements prior to the game!

I find it obnoxious but should I sleep over it?

Certainly no need to run it past 7, poor taste from the coach.

Who halts their scoring at 7 in a tournament where? No one.

Well, good sportsmanship would halt at a certain number knowing there is no way the other team would ever catch up and win. Coach can use this opportunity to do keep away and not try to score and practice on foot work and etc.

True but depending on the others teams score, 7 is low. It's also about total points for and against as a tally. Its still a tournament.

Usually goal differential in a tournament is "capped" at a maximum of 4-5, at least for the younger age groups, so running up the score that much accomplishes nothing other than humiliating the other team.
