| also left out metro united - while it's not the top there have to be at least some decent players in there to be competing at that level |
| Pipeline and Baltimore Celtic Union are in the mix too. Honestly, no team is really dominant in this age group. They have all won and lost to each other at various tournaments and league games in the last year. It really comes down to which coaching and playing style are right for your kid. |
SYC cannot compete with these teams. Good ccl club but not ECNL or top GA. |
I don't think poster realizes this is talking about U14 Girls. SYC U14 girls are not nearly on this level. OP got it right with his list.... IMO... 1. FCV GA 07s (They just illegally recruited yet another player during the break, the lack of respect FCV and it's parents have is unbelievable. It's more the parents though. Will 08s be moved back on age after spring? But hey, they have a great team!) 2. Loudoun ECNL 07s (How many will leave after this year to FCV) 3. McLean ECNL 07s (Gets the leftovers from FCV) 4. Bethesda ECNL 07s (How many players can FCV or McLean take from them after Spring???) 5. Maryland United ECNL 07s (Will obtain better players from smaller clubs in the area, perhaps surpassing Bethesda in Fall 2021) 6. Baltimore Armour GA 07s (Fun coach who has retained it's players for years now but not much more upside) 7. Baltimore Celtic Union 07s (IMO, may lose players to MD United or Bethesda) 8. Coppermine Premier 07s (Wildcard, unlikely to lose players to Pipeline however, Celtic Union is in the area...) 9. VDA ECNL 07s (FCV has taken at least one player, can they take anymore?) 10. Arlington GA 07s (On the bottom of this list and not going anywhere.) All I can say is enjoy it while it lasts FCV. Every team behind 07s is really struggling to make progress. The "Champions League" is the only hope for continuing success but it's going to take some major changes to get there. GA is also going to be a tough sell moving forward with 4 quality ECNL programs. Say what you want about Loudoun, but the younger ages seem promising. |

fcv do have a strong team. Definitely worth noting that their only loss was to md united BUT it was the 4th game of the weekend on crappy grass fields in Richmond. Baltimore armour is the only team to hold fcv goalless. Metro united tied them 1-1 but the scoreline doesn't reflect how the game played out.
Shame these teams aren't able to compete against one another as it would be an aggressive division but I agree with another post that most of these teams do not reflect the overall strength of the club but more point to luck - good coach, good core unit etc |
Jesus, these FCV parents are a little insecure about how good their little Karen's team is. Seems like not being in ENCL is a huge issue for these parents -> overcompensating big time on an anonymous forum about how good their team. Who will ever know since they play in some 2nd tier league? |
Curious how FCV illegally recruited off VDA? |
1. FCV GA 07s (GA clubs are allowed to recruit freely from ECNL teams) 2. Loudoun ECNL 07s (How many will leave to FCV and McLean, this team is the most likely to fail going forward) 3. McLean ECNL 07s (Will keep getting better) 4. Bethesda ECNL 07s (I dont think their players are going anywhere) |
Exactly what would be "illegal" about it? |
It's not illegal if you get permission from both giving and receiving clubs. |
It would be nice to publicize clubs that do not let you transfer, or guest play with other clubs not in your league. The power to refuse does not make it right, or in the long run, wise. |
Few questions: 1) What was "illegal" about what FCV did? Regarding the 08s, there are only 2 on the team now (I moved out of the area), and I would think the parents aren't going to want them to move down next year. I could see it if HS soccer came into play (as the 07s would be in HS, right?), but I didn't think FCV allowed HS soccer? 2) Why would these Loudoun players leave ECNL for FCV? The GA platform is bad, and getting worse.... 3) If McLean is picking up leftovers from FCV, you're implying folks are leaving FCV, which goes against what you just said, right? Unless you're implying that Loudoun players bump FCV players, and those bumped, in turn, go to McLean? Don't see that happening, if nothing else due to the commute from Loudoun into McLean..... 4) You think a number Bethesda families are going to drive to FCV or McLean? Doubtful. Maybe one? maybe. 5) MD United has been a free fall for a little while now. They will stay somewhat competitive due to the draw of ECNL, but they aren't a top team like they were. 6) BA is a wildcard. Not sure what direction they're heading. 7) Celtic is a solid team, and a wildcard as well. Could go either direction in terms of competitiveness. 8) Coppermine? Really? They are an afterthought. 9) VDA - middle of road at best ECNL team at this age group. Lost a good player. 10) Arlington - agreed. 11) What about Metro? |
| Loudoun or McLean. The rest is not even close. |
They are in different leagues and do not have any poaching rules between leagues. Those rules apply only to ECNL clubs not to GA. If there are GA players VDA wants they are free to reach out to them at will. |
| What did VDA lose? A mid fielder? Fwd? |
