Anyone hear how tryouts went? |
Heard they had very strong attendance and had a bunch of John Hopkins girls lax in attendance helping with clinch and providing evaluations with the coaches. The main director from Long Island was supposedly down as well. |
Not factual it was just old club players as the majority, and multiple of them were missing. Very few newer players. Mostly only new elementary school players. I was told that the people from LI wanted to come but couldn’t because of corona travel restrictions. The middle school and high school numbers that showed up did not look that great from what I saw on the fields. They are at the very least 3 to 5 years before they will be anything to consider seriously. If your DD is serious about lacrosse look at VA Metro, Pride, Cardinal, Stars, Capital, or CAVs. |
That seems like what most would have expected here. The old club was behind all those teams mentioned above. |
Sounds like a bad recap from their Instagram page. |
Not sure I follow |
I don’t even see a YJMA instagram page. |
Don't know many who have even heard of Rattlers, which appears the to be the local foundation for YJMA. Venturing into VA lacrosse with an off-the-radar VA-based club as your base doesn't seem like the greatest of ideas. At best the YJ's name will provide enough credibility and a spark to attract strong players who would not have entertained joining Rattlers in the past. Most likely this means the strongest players from Prince William County, Loudoun County, and western Fairfax County. Throw in a few who may be willing to travel outside these areas because of the YJ name. It could happen, but not likely, at least for a long while. If YJ does somehow pull this off it will impact the traditional stronger NoVa clubs who rely on strong talent from these western areas to fill out their rosters. Strong attendance at tryouts does not equate to strong talent. Again, it could happen, but YJMA will most likely struggle to gain a foothold with the stronger local players and families. |
Agree 100% here. The YJ name can only go so far. Most of those players you mention from those areas are already in the top NVA clubs and won't move to YJMA for a lesser club experience, which doesn't lend itself to a successful program. |
Agreed avoid! |
read just the title of this thread and got nervous. terrified of bees |
Don’t worry! They are all buzz no sting! |
Have the bees been exterminated yet? No way this program lasts past the summer. |
