Krucoff still claiming to be nonpartisan.

Krucoff really got pummeled in the election.
Finished 7th in an eight-person field, losing to every other party’s candidate INCLUDING the libertarian candidate. Krucoff lost to everyone but John “Recovery” Cheeks who has a laudable platform except he opposes statehood because it “would cost too much money”. It’s tough for Krucoff to do so poorly, because 3 of the other candidates had zero signs that I saw driving to all the city wards — and 2 had almost zero. Krucoff made a sign effort. Krucoff barely got 2x the votes of that well-known candidate, “Write-In”. Republicans used to run for delegate against Holmes Norton and say falsely they were for statehood ... but only with a constitutional amendment, which they know would never happen. The new trick by Krucoff is to run against statehood. That worked out ... extremely poorly. |
| That's what you get when you're honest. He could've lied like other candidates but DC has 0% chance of becoming a state. Even Jamie Raskin is for retrocession but lacks the huevos to say it. Even Norton is aware it's never going to happen. |
|
Norton has challengers all the time. In 2018 Kim Ford attempted to primary her. Republican Nelson Rimensynder was a perennial Republican candidate for DC representative for a while, but he never got above 6 percent of the vote. Tim Krepp ran in 2014 as an independent and got around two percent of the vote.
Krucoff had to know he’d have a similar fate to the other EHN challengers. However, running have him a platform to promote his “Douglass County” idea for DC representation. In short, he benefits from the publicity and being able to fundraise around that. Anyone concerned about “splitting the vote” or the risk of a Republican becoming DC rep knows nothing of DC’s electoral history. Krucoff’s candidacy was never anything to worry about. |
He lied about not supporting Republicans. There’s a reason why Krucoff is running around repeating independent independent independent— because he knows talking about how he supports / is supported by Republicans would be a kiss of death for his campaign. So he hides it. The GOP has to lie. It’s all they have. They’d get 15% of the vote in America if they didn’t lie. Their actual policies are toxic. |
|
Don't worry he lost.
Problem is with EHN serving her umpteenth term so did you. Good luck. |

I just noticed:
Krucoff is running as a Republican for Ward 3 council. At least we all now know the truth about him. Sigh. I’m sick of the way Republicans in DC lie about what they are really up to. Republican. https://www.dcboe.org/dcboe/media/PDFFiles/Candidates-05122022.pdf |
| Who cares? DC will never be a state and Norton will die in that seat, even if she is senile she will keep getting re-elected. |
|
Maybe instead of worrying about which political tribe people may secretly belong to, you should instead worry about the quality of governance.
It’s a little Orwellian that people are busily trying to root out “secret Republicans” from local politics. |
| If you are for DC Statehood ask yourself if you would still be for it if DC were predominantly Republican. Of course you wouldn’t. It is a Democrat power grab plain and simple. |
|
Krukoff is a conservative who pushed for DC to become part of Maryland. Also, he's not very smart.
|
It’s not “honest” to say that merging DC and MD is a “solution” when no one in DC or MD wants that. |
| This forum has become a place where campaign staffers for local politicians can just post a bunch of oppo research dirt in hopes of swaying urban moms and dads. It’s funny. Whether it’s Goulet or now Krucoff…I applaud you for your mud slinging. All politics truly is local. |
At this point, with rising crime, it would be nice to have a moderate Republican. |
