57K per person? What would be the impact of "statehood" on that? I personally feel lile being a district that hosts the Feds gives them extra incentive to give DC a little boost.

DC will never be a state. No appetite from either party. If President Obama was not concerned, why would President Biden be?

DH and I feel that she can retire when she is ready, and we will vote for her until she does.

How much do they give states?

As if there's any risk this guy would win. Come on.

Does he even live in DC?

I don’t think he does, or at least not till recently. He had an address in Bethesda and another in MD. He hasn’t voted in DC at all through 2014, I believe.

This is a false number generated by Heritage that includes federal salaries to make it seem big.

The true number is a fraction of that.

Wait you're saying federal salaries matter in the district?

Who knew? Duh.

What matters is how much DC GOVERNMENT gets from the federal government.

Kentucky pays $7,000 per person in federal taxes. Its government gets back $8,000, and grants and contracts give it another $8,000.
(Rockefeller: https://rockinst.org/issue-areas/fiscal-analysis/balance-of-payments-portal/)

DC pays $37,000 per person in federal taxes (https://wamu.org/story/17/04/18/tax-day-random-facts-d-c-taxes/).
Our government gets $7,000. SEVEN THOUSAND. ($5B receipts in direct payments/700,000 residents)

Kentucky's government gets $1k per person more from the feds over what they pay.
DC's government gets $30,000 LESS per person from the feds over what we pay.

It's a joke.

And these BS calculations from Heritage (and even Urban/TPC) that include "federal salaries" are just that, BS. Our schools don't directly get money from federal salaries (although federal employees end up donating a lot to schools and teachers to buy supplies and to PTOs, which should be eliminated in lieu of the feds paying more of our tax dollars back.)

Our schools are starved of funds because DC residents pay federal tax, we have no representation, so our schools get jack from the taxes we pay.

Why freak out about this guy or bring any attention to him? EHN had had challengers before. She never gets less than 93 percent of the vote.

Ah, this thread got me motivated to look at Krucoff.

Larry O'Connor, the rightwing radio host, interviewed Krucoff recently.

For such a "nonpartisan" fellow, Krucoff certainly likes to talk to Republicans.

I am looking forward to speaking w/ the renowned Larry O’Connor,
@LarryOConnor
show, this afternoon at 4:35PM.
@WMALDC
. Here’s a picture of me speaking at a recent DC Statehood event. I am sure we will discuss DC Statehood & the campaign for DC Delegate in our segment. Join us.

-----------------

Some context on Larry O'Connor, who Krucoff called "Renowned".

First, Larry works for Townhall and for DC Examiner, both radical rightwing sites. Sigh.

Larry pushes the fake Republican stuff about the FBI that Trump loves,
and he retweets insane rightwing (Chinese rightwing cult) site The Epoch Times.

Larry's a big Republican partisan about the Supreme Court, as you might expect:

And Larry's pro-Trump -- here he is going after Biden and retweeting Trump's main campaign spokesman Matt Wolking.

Given the extremism of someone like Larry, if I were truly "non-partisan" I'm not sure I would go on Larry's talk show. But voters can decide.
