Schools back in-person in 2022 due to mass-vaccine

We can ride out this year with our pod. but then I think we will have to move in order to get to a private school we can afford.

I would start applying now for private schools. From the news, I don’t see the public school system reopening for anything substantial for years. I have no idea why parents would put any faith in a public school system anymore. They can’t even figure out how to open in a hybrid option when schools around the country are currently open and doing well.

+1 What's the point of this? A million things could change between now and then. Keep your hypothetical theories to yourself.

The manufacturers leading the pack anticipate enough doses to vaccinate every American by summer of 2021. Approval is imminent, and frontline workers will be first in line.

Get out of here with late 2022 bs.

There's been a shortage of Shingrix pretty much the whole time it's supposed to have been available. If there weren't hurdles to mass production, we would have had more masks, more tests, more Lysol wipes.

You can get surgical masks easily now. Soap and water works as well as wipes.

So for those of you who can’t afford private, what are you going to do?

I work for one of these companies and the data in this table is incorrect.

Manufacturers have also been paid to produce commercial supplies at risk. Thet are currently manufacturing billions of doses at risk. These will be thrown out if the trials dont work. But if approved, significant commercial stock will be available immediately for shipment.

Are you saying there are Phase 3 vaccine trials that are on track for Approvals before 2nd Quarter 2021 (so Mar-Apr 2021)?

Where? JNJ just started its Phase 3 Trials in Sept. AstraZeneca and Eli Lily both began trials in August and were paused due to complications.

The reliance on getting a vaccine for schools to reopen is, and always will be, a huge mistake. Vaccine available to all (which I am going to take word of PP who works in one of the pharma cos) does not mean schools will reopen. The public schools around here will stay closed arguing with teachers and parents about who *has* to get a vaccine to go back to school. Sad but true.

Are people going to want to get the vaccine though? Will schools ask for proof that you got it? Will the crazy religious exemption hold for the Covid vaccine? I’m saying 2022, too. By the time the virus has made it through the population.

Exactly. The "no in person until no virus" starting position means 2022-23 earliest.

This is ridiculous and of course masked and distanced in person school could happen earlier, but it won't.

Cleaning phones is not an obstacle to going to school. OMG.

There aren't even enough private school spots to meet the demand, even for people that can afford it.
