Major crush on boss

Agreed. He is no longer worth it. Not worth the risk.

I would just let it go. Take distance. Reassess at some less lonely time. With the pandemic everyone is getting a bit loopy from not seeing anyone. It could just be in your head.

Yes.

Did she work for him too?

Yes.

How many times? Why did each end? How does he speak about his ex? The answers to these will likwly halp end your crush... if they don't do the obvious thing and stop going to lunch and happy hour with him alone. If you have to go out with a group , ( unlikely given the pandemic, and numbers rising) leave early, heck you can use numbers being on the rise again as an excuse, you want to limit your risk as much as possible.

I tried the crappy husband/dad line of thought. Turns out (at least from what he has told me) that isn’t the case. I’m inclined to believe him based on what I have observed.

Also, I was hoping he was a republican (very possible given his background). That is dealbreaker for me. It was a big surprise when we started talking politics and I learned that was definitely not the case.

Does he have kids from first marriage? If yes, and you are never divorced, no kids OP, skip him.

Is he married.

Shut this down immediately. If he likes you he can ask you out like a normal person.

Reading comprehension - she says he is single.

So long as they act like grown ups they can do it.

How long have you been working for him?

Is he newly divorced?

BIG strike against him if he's been married before. You can do better.

People can’t win. In another thread, we both have serious issues because we are 35+ and single.

Had he been never married and childless, then game on.

But banging your divorced boss is never a good idea.

So it was all her fault? ... Pass op.

No, didn’t say that at all. Sounds like it was pretty mutual and they both tried to save the marriage, but it just wasn’t working. They get along and co-parent well.
