Did you continue to have kids until you had at least one daughter and one son?

Seriously? People do this?

Sure it would be fun to have one of each, but in the big picture their sex really isn't important, and you can have joy raising 2 boys or 2 girls. Two is my cutoff.

Nice post.

Nope- we always planned on two and had two. I wanted a girl and had two boys. I quickly realized how great boys can be and am thankful things ended up the way they did.

No. I have 4 kids that are the same sex.

Yes. I am so close to my mother and love our relationship so I knew I wanted a daughter.

Money wasn’t an issue, so we have three boys and, finally, a girl.

My grandparents had 5 daughters before my dad was born and then stopped. I don’t know anyone else who did likewise.

No, I had a boy and a girl, then a third.

I have 2 boys who I love to pieces but would not be considering a 3rd if I had a boy and a girl. I want the experience of having a daughter too. If I get a boy, that’s fine I’ll love him to pieces also and would never go for a 4th, but I’ll own wanting a girl

Had 2 girls and got pregnant with #3 by accident. I really wanted another girl because I loved my 2 girls So much and thought boys were boring. #3 is a boy and I am so happy now. He is amazing and not boring at all!

Have three boys and have always wanted four kids. I know if I go for the fourth people will assume it’s trying for a girl but it is absolutely would not be. I always wanted four, and would be happy with any combo of sexes.

Most will unfortunately. I have two older DDs and we wanted a 3rd. We would have been happy with a girl and got the surprise of twin boys. If I had a dollar for every person who said "you really got that boy huh!"

We had a fourth kid with huge hopes of breaking our single-sex streak, but no such luck. So we said we were done. However, two years later, we had a complete surprise opposite-sex baby.

I know some families who have four kids (the first three were either all boys or all girls).

This wasn't important to me or DH. DH is the youngest of four brothers and his parents have said that they had hoped that he would be a daughter, which he didn't like hearing growing up.

PSA- I have kids who are all one gender. There are 4. We did NOT keep going, trying for the opposite sex and then gave up; we had 4 because we wanted 4 humans, regardless of sex. It drives me crazy when people who have 3 of one sex and more of any assume this.

Cute story:

My father grew up in an Italian / Irish neighborhood. He got roped into taking a girl from a protective Italian family to the prom . There were 4 boys in the family and then finally the girl. 2 of the brothers came along to the prom date to "protect" the girl.

My dad says she probably became a nun!
