Fed up with this kid mask issue- how are y’all managing

Attempting to support some folks by buying them for $10. Nanny takes kid to our gym to play volleyball and basketball and go swimming. Sometimes to corner store on scooters. DH took him recently to the dermatologist and to a science store of some kind. I think he gets into the car the mask on and then he takes them off in the car so they vanish.

When you leave the house, you put your mask on, then when you come home, you put it in the laundry bag in the vase. We also have a stack of disposable adult and kid masks, if needed.

On Sunday, I wash and iron the bag of used masks and we start all over again.

DD is 4, and hasn't lost a mask yet.

You IRON the masks?

Some mask styles fit much better when ironed into shape (3D/octagon for example). Since that's the style that fits my teen and I best, I often iron our masks. I'll admit that I sew masks, so right now my ironing board is always out and it takes no time to heat the iron, press the mask, and be finished. But really, don't do it if you don't want to, but it's not that much of a time commitment especially if you're only doing it once a week on a schedule like the PP.

You kid sounds old enough to be keeping track of his own masks. He loses it. He doesn't go out.

But don't be those people littering disposable masks! I hate seeing them on the ground. No one wants to have to pick up a discarded mask.

I drop mine on the ground when I leave a store. You make me wear one, you clean up.

What!? You are a vile pig.

Well, if you buy some reusable masks with feminine patterns such as pink flowers your husband and son will probably not be tempted to wear them, so that solves ONE issue.

How old is your child?

Can you do an incentive chart? Bring your mask home successfully every day for 3 weeks, and you get a new toy? That's how I trained my son to not forget his hoodie at school.

We also resorted to a clean mask and dirty mask bin in our entry. Unfortunately, it took one of my kids, who has ADHD, a while to get into the habit of taking a clean one and then remembering to bring it out of the car and put in the dirty bin. I just made it a priority to remind her every time and hang signs in the car and house for a few weeks. Now, the habit is formed and she is 95% consistent. Try to focus on it for a week or two. Gentle reminders and lots of opportunities to follow the routine. Signs also really help remind them.

We have bought masks in bulk from directfacecovers dot com; both disposables and K95. The latter we have used for DD's medical appointments and on one Metro trip downtown. They are way less than $10 a piece and delivered for free if you use product code TYCOHAVIP at checkout.

I would have one that is kept in the nanny’s car, one in DH’s car, one in your car and one in DS’s backpack.

At least I'm not caving to bad science, sweetie.

Besides, if the mask WAS contaminated, why the hell would I want it in my car? Lol. Just playing along the best I can.
