You...iron...masks... ...in a pandemic? Where do you find the time? ![]() I'm genuinely impressed. |
Buy disposable masks since they can't seem to function with reusable masks. |
So glad your found your purpose. ![]() |
Yes, stock up an cheap masks. Old Navys are pretty good. Keep a ziplock of 5 disposable ones in the cars as a back up. |
In what ways do you feel the existence of Covid takes up more of your time? |
We haven't lost a mask yet. Each of us have about 4-5. We keep them on a hook by the front door (anxiously awaiting a multi-hook rack so we all have our *own* mask hook - the small joys during covid!). We put them in a ceramic bin by the door to the basement to wash them. Since you're wearing the mask the whole time you're out of the house, it's pretty hard to lose it. |
Another mask ironer here. The ones we like don’t lay nicely unless you flatten the pleats after washing. It takes a minute to do a weeks’ worth, which is >20 in our house.
Also, we keep them in dressers next to socks and underwear and have a dirty bin by the front door plus a ziploc for dirties in all of our totes and backpacks. Haven’t lost a mask yet, but it’s rare that we’d take one off in public and put it down because we aren’t eating out right now. |
Either purchase one of the straps that goes behind the neck, and allows you to put the mask down around your neck, and then raise it, or attach a breakaway lanyard to one of the ear loops so that it hangs like a necklace when they aren't wearing it. Either way the mask stays attached to the child. I am having trouble envisioning this situation where the kid is in a setting where they need the mask and then they're going outside to play and there's no one present so they don't need a mask, so maybe if you explained the situation I'd have better suggestions. |
DP here, I think that almost every working parent who has lost their childcare and is now homeschooling, providing constant supervision, and still working full time, is finding free time limited. I long ago gave up ironing any of my own clothes. I just buy things that don't require it. So, getting out the ironing board for just masks would be a pain. |
Where they heck are they going so often? My kids leave the house maybe once at week at most (not counting playing outside.) We haven't lost a mask yet - we have the Old Navy ones and they are nowhere near $10 each. |
You IRON the masks? |
But don't be those people littering disposable masks! I hate seeing them on the ground. No one wants to have to pick up a discarded mask. |
Nanny here. I hang the kid’s masks from my rear view mirror so it reminds me to leave them in the car. The only time they need them is when we go somewhere in the car. You can have your DH so the same in his car. |
Car: I put 3M hooks next to each seat in the car. There’s a 2 gallon ziploc in the front seat that gets passed around for dirty masks. Clean masks stay in the glove compartment; the hooks are so that we can be mask-free between stops.
House: I put 3M hooks next to the front door, and clean masks wait there until we’re walking or biking. There’s also a small laundry basket on the floor next to the boot tray, and dirty masks get dropped in after we come back from a walk. For younger kids who seem incapable of remembering to keep ahold of mittens/gloves, scarves and now masks, I use mitten clips. I’m not buying more than I absolutely need to buy. I’ll replace anything that’s worn too much from being used and anything that a child outgrows. I don’t do “lost.” https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=mitten+clips&ref=is_s |
Larlo! Go away you ridiculous troll. |
