More info about the case, which was simplified for the tv show. There were ample warning signs: https://www.grunge.com/224521/the-untold-truth-of-the-dupont-de-ligonnes-murders/

The death definitely impacted the son deeply. He came across as still numb from it 15 years later. I don't trust the husband. The whole ashes scene was bazaar. I really felt he had something to do with it. To lock a teenager out of the house and not let him get his things or anything of his mothers after her disappearance/ death is cruel.

It's clear they strongly disliked each other.

The husband is suspicious. A daytime abduction, her wallet untouched but missing wedding ring, rumors she wanted a divorce. He seemed like a sociopath too, so cruel toward her son.

I watched this episode this morning. Yes, the DH did not have a good relationship with Patrice's son - but that does not make him a murderer. That's a big leap. Not sure what was so "bizarre" about Patrice's ashes either - his reaction to it and discussion surrounding it seemed pretty normal to me.

None of what I saw points to the Rob as the killer.

I disagree. He said "maybe someone used her like a toy" like a total sociopath. Further, he changed the locks on their home, making sure her kid couldn't get back in, within 24 hours. How does that not suggest he knew very well she wasn't coming back?

The son is obviously sad and traumatized. The husband is totally sketchy and suspect. I don't understand how he would not let the son see or have his mom's ashes, and the next day change the locks and abandon her teen son. Cruel.

Possible spotting in Chicago. Too good to be true, I know.

It does seem like he was also trying to immediately get rid of the son after she was killed. So bizarre how he was walking around with her skull.

The friend/boss is so shady. He didn't attend his memorial service or funeral, wtf? One theory is that he fell/was thrown from a helicopter:

There's a book written about the case and the author did an AMA on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/UnsolvedMysteries/comments/hqj3kk/ama_mikita_brottman_author_of_an_unexplained/

After looking at the evidence she concluded that the most likely explanation was Rey had a psychotic episode and jumped. Apparently forensics concluded he could have made the hole with a running start from the roof. And there were some aspects of strange/paranoid behavior leading up to his death. There are certainly some uncertainties but it does seem most likely it was unfortunately a suicide.

Wasn't the distance 45 feet across to the hole, how is that even possible? His injuries weren't consistent with that type of death. How could his phone and glasses be untouched with that kind of fall, and outside of the hole?

The show did mention that an athletic man could run fast enough to jump that distance. The wife dismissed it because he was wearing flip flops and was afraid of heights. The phone could be explained if it didn’t fall out of his pocket until right before impact.

After reading more about things that were left out of the show, I think he committed suicide.

I am so unsure about Rey Rivera. So many things do not add up, I do think there was foul play. And the second one, I definitely think Patrice’s husband was involved, he was so sick and twisted and talked about her like she was a possession. The AlonZo Brooks case is so sad and I really hope they can solve it soon. There are so many tips on the cold Case blogs.

I completely disagree with your comment, his behavior was very detached. The whole time he talked about her, he did not seem upset. He made statements like it would be physically impossible for me to have done it since I was at this gas station, referencing his receipt, he never expressed remorse but was just protecting himself and explaining why he had an alibi. He talked about sleeping with her ashes but then when he took them out in front of the camera he had to cut through the box so clearly they had not been looked at reviewed before. He talked about how he had her ashes and he would never let pistol have them. He seems like a sick sick man and I definitely think he is guilty

Can't the police department remove the gag order? The lead detective said there was a process, but why not pursue that so they could speak with Rey's coworkers? Wasn't it his 3 co-workers who spotted the hole and sandals first? Really odd that his best friend put a gag order on everyone and didn't attend his funeral. His family has no closure.

Anonymous wrote:Can we talk about Alonzo Brooks? I hope they find out what actually happened who killed him. Glad they reopened his case. His "friends" seem sketchy.

I agree his friends seemed sketchy, especially the one who left for cigarettes and supposedly got lost and just decided not to come back. My best guess is an accidental death that was covered up because they were scared, but I'm having trouble squaring the tossed hat and boots.

I agree that the husband has sociopathic traits. As I watched it seemed very clear to me that his weird tangents about having the bones laid out in the funeral home to his satisfaction, carrying the skull around, and his crazy talk about “snuggling” with the ashes (despite the fact that he retrieved the box from the floor of a junky closet on air and had never opened it) were designed to inflict maximum pain on the son.

I think that a-hole was thrilled that the stepson lost his mother and that he (the stepfather) had the power to keep the remains all to himself. Murder for hire would not surprise me in the least.
