NP. I’m in the Northeast (Appleton/Green Bay Area) and I’d say about 1/5 to 1/4 wears masks depending on location. |
Yeah I’m also in Wisconsin and once the state started reopening about a month ago, I’ve seen fewer and fewer people wearing masks when I go to the grocery store (we don’t go anywhere else indoors in public so I don’t know about mask frequency in other places). I’d say about 1/10 people at Costco were wearing masks last time I went and previously Costco had been one of the places where most people seemed to be masked/distanced before so that was a big change. I get a lot of weird looks/smirks/gawks for wearing my mask. |
I’m a travel RN and all I can say is that on the couple FB groups I’m on for jobs there has been an explosion of ICU jobs in Arizona for crisis rates (albeit about half of what NYC was paying). This has been in the last week so I saw it and though damn AZ must be exploding. |
I have family and friends working at various hospitals in Pima and Maricopa counties and a business relationship with a large Phoenix based hospital group. Their troubles are real. They now have the third highest RT in the country. And no mask law. |
I don’t know your condition but that’s not true generally. The U of A has world class cardiology, trauma, and many other specialties so Tucson has excellent doctors for the size of the city. Your doctor may just be ignorant of this. |
I don’t know why liberal counties like Pima County havent enacted their own mask law. Did Ducey prohibit that too? |
Yeah, local jurisdictions can’t institute different restrictions. My in-laws live in Phoenix and are terrified. My MIL calls their governor Trump 2.0 because she said he’s just as much of an idiot. |
My ILs are in Eau Claire and they say maybe 10%-20% are wearing masks. So, about the same. |
I live in Tucson and yes- Ducey prohibited it. Otherwise Tucson and Phoenix proper would enact mask laws I think. We are also having terrible wildfires here in Tucson so that is taking focus from covid-19. My neighborhood has been on “set” (ready to evacuate at a moments notice) since Thursday. Many friends did evacuate and have had to stay with family or in hotels which really doesn’t help matters in terms of spread. |
Have clients out there, nobody is distancing or wearing masks. The smart ones are stocking up for a second quarantine (although they never really shut down) |
The Arizona Department of Health Services has a Data Dashboard on their site that breaks down most of the numbers by county. |
Milwaukee County has had a higher percentage of mask users. I would say about 50%. When I go grocery shopping at 7am only the most serious about the virus are there for the most part and about 80% wear masks. |
As a European i just cannot understand why someone would prohibit a jurisdiction from having a mask law. It's just so devastatingly selfish. |
Gotta keep Trump and his supporters happy. No GOP politician wants mean tweets from POTUS. |
Why so much focus on Wisconsin? They have had declining cases and a consistent 2% positivity rate for weeks. Plus, 73% of cases are recovered. They are doing pretty well. |
