No guys, don't worry. Trump's toady Ducey says all is well! It's just because we have the best testing in the entire world, don't you know. |
I can't imagine everyone walking around unmasked.
If they close the state back down and wear masks, would that be enough to help flatten the curve? |
This article from the the LA Times - wow.https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2020-06-15/partygoers-have-been-packing-arizona-bars-and-nightclubs-now-the-state-is-a-coronavirus-hot-spot
Bars are packed. No one wears masks. Gov. Ducey won't do anything - "Have to learn to live with the virus" - and he issued an executive order preventing any localities from doing their own shut downs. What a clusterf*** |
I have family there. To make matters worse, people evacuated due to wild fires and had to mix households. |
I was talking to a friend in Wisconsin today. She said basically everyone stopped wearing masks. She was astounded to hear it's mandatory in MD when going to a public place indoors. I was astounded it's not required there -- I assumed all states were doing this. |
Your doctor is either an idiot or a complete snob. Please inform her that Phoenix is home to a large piece of the Mayo Clinic. Perhaps she's heard of that. |
I'm in RI, where masks are required, and I've yet to see someone in a store without one. |
I was curious abut what you wrote PP and wen to Wisconsin Dept. of Health Serivces site to check and here is the mask pertaining part: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/protect.htm Should I wear a cloth face mask? (Is guidance the same as law?) This guidance should help answer some common questions that you may have regarding if, and when, you should wear a cloth face cover. Please note, cloth face covers are not a substitute for physical distancing and handwashing. Guidance: Our best defense against COVID-19 is washing our hands frequently, avoiding touching our eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands, avoiding being around sick people and physical distancing, especially by staying at home. A strong health care delivery system and emergency response system is also an essential core defense to save lives when people do get ill. There may be a benefit to reducing asymptomatic transmission and reinforcing physical distancing from the use of face covers. However, face coverings may increase risk if users reduce their use of strong defenses, such as physical distancing and frequent hand washing, when using cloth face coverings. What is a cloth face cover? A cloth face cover is material that covers the nose and mouth while being secured to the head with ties, straps or simply wrapped around the lower face. These coverings can be made by a variety of materials. When should I wear a cloth face cover? You should wear a cloth face cover when you are outside the home conducting essential activities such as going to work, to the grocery store, pharmacy, banking and enjoying outdoor activities while maintaining physical distancing. If you are sick (have a cough or are sneezing) or have seasonal allergies you need to wear a cloth face cover when around other people to protect them from your sneezes. Wearing a cloth face cover may be beneficial as it may help to protect others from germs you may be spreading without knowing it. Using a cloth face cover is preferable because that allows more surgical masks and respirators to be used by health care providers and other first responders. How effective are masks at preventing the spread of the virus? There is limited evidence to suggest that use of cloth face coverings by the public during a pandemic could help reduce disease transmission. Their primary role is to reduce the release of infectious particles into the air when someone speaks, coughs, or sneezes, including someone who has COVID-19 but feels well. Cloth face coverings are not a substitute for physical distancing and washing hands and staying home when ill, but they may be helpful when combined with these primary interventions. |
Ask you friend to send us some pics next time she goes to the store. |
I am just trying to understand the title of this post:
Arizona is a disaster OP, Could you please be so kind and explain to the rest of us in the dark, how and why is the Arizona such a disaster and why, say.. Maryland is not such a disaster at all, because you know, MD is not a disaster but actually is doing really great.. So kindly please take a look at the following stats: ARIZONA Arizona Population - 7.279 million Arizona Total cases - 35,691 Arizona Total deaths- 1,188 + 3 new deaths' within the last 24h MARYLAND Maryland Population- 6.046 million Maryland Total cases- 60,613 Maryland Total deaths- 2,900 + 12 deaths within the last 24 hours Even if there is an increased number of positive cases in Arizona, that does not mean that all those cases are A. Symptomatic B. Extreme C. Requiring Hospitalization D. Ending in Death Chinses are that the epidemic is simply correcting itself and spreading to those who were previously oevrisolatin and overcorrected the curve as you remember we were supposed to FLATTEN the curve and let it go not to STOP it. Clearly the good thing in this point in epidemic is that the: Virus has WAY more mild effect on people Deaths are extremely rare in Arizona now Much more people test asymptomatic then symptomatic Not that many hospitalizations Better understanding, treatment and therapies available at this point So overall why Arizona is such a disaster? Eventually all those people would be exposed anyway but slower. We here just happened to be exposed earlier and in greater number so probably we exhausted the virus host supply. |

I am headed home to Arizona next month to visit family, assuming everything is not gotten much worse. The interesting thing is that I am in OC today and no one is wearing masks inside here either, which I thought was Maryland state law. Makes me think everyone is just giving up. |
I'm afraid not. Nowhere around me (southeast) that I know of, I see about 1 in 10 folks wearing masks. Maybe 2-3/10 if you count the people wearing the mask down on their necks, etc. Have seen a couple using a mask to hold their hair back? Insanity. |
Lol what treatments and therapies? Feel free to start a new thread, can't wait to hear them! |
