Perhaps start with saying there is a zero tolerance for racism.

Meh, more words. Tell me specifics. Tell me that you have reviewed your SOP for discriminatory practices (in many cases, how about creating an SOP). Tell me that TD's are charged with the responsibility to spot racism and act immediately. Tell me that you will be open and honest about violations and corrective actions.

I was an earlier poster who requested specifics. This is exactly what is useful. Words followed by specifics within what clubs can do. These are good ideas. How about more representative coaching staffs.

More representative coaching staff???
What club are you with?
I can tell you my kids club is about are diverse as it can possibly be and thats here in Northern VA. The coaching staff is every shade of color one can be.
If that is how you truly feel then go to a club that better meets your diversity expectations. Let your existing club know why you are leaving.

And if you're experiencing racism at your local club, LEAVE for goodness sakes - file charges if you want.

Pick an organization that is actually designed to make a difference on the issue. Provide them with your time or funding if you so choose.

For the person who suggested quotas... I'm not even going to get started.

I think a huge amount of what is considered politically correct anti-racism today is cynical posturing for political advantage. Many of the actions taken either make no difference, or in some case actually backfire and make things worse.

The vast majority of people of all colors are not consciously racist, and do not want to be unconsciously racist.

These people do not need bureaucracy, rules and threats to change their behavior. In fact creating such rules and bureaucracy often backfires because it causes these people to resent all the time and effort they must expend on what they see as needless exercises. And some people dig their feet in and actively resist being forced to do things - not because they're racist, but just because they're ornery.

What is required is for someone to very gently point out, in a friendly way, when someone has done something wrong. And we all share the responsibility for that. And it is more effective than any written policy or hotline or quota.

FACT: our club doesn’t have any female coach or female director. If they get to hire a female coach the club will assign her to a B or C team.

And what the heck does it have to do with the thread? We're speaking of clubs discussing racial injustice. Not the inequality of males versus females Please don't change the narrative. That's one of the major reasons we have this problem today.

I agree, that’s why I asked.
