+1 hypocrites most clubs will take no action other than posting their propaganda online. I have witnessed a lot of discrimination within a local club. Most times it comes from coaches from different backgrounds. All they care is to please parents that kiss their ass. |
I was an earlier poster who requested specifics. This is exactly what is useful. Words followed by specifics within what clubs can do. These are good ideas. How about more representative coaching staffs. |
This is just talk too. Be specific. What action? You know what’s hypocritical? Not voting and then screaming about outcomes. |
well it depends; some people say allies need to shut up, some say allies need to say these exact words, some say do more, etc. complex issue, most people are ignorant to most factors, and the assertions so many people give are often unsubstantiated and/or failed logic with fallacies abound. it's sad, because people have had their lives take and now people are having their lives taken. |
| If you are a club start by accepting costumer reviews. I wonder why most clubs forbid families on posting online reviews, isn’t it retaliation? The fact that clubs prohibit the reviews empower TD and coaches bias against certain players and families. With no transparency in their policies, good practices and directives/coaches behaviors, this clearly leads to discrimination. |
not sure, call a lawyer |
Our club has that already in the contracts... Zero tolerance for racism, bullying, etc. No discrimination due to religion, ethnicity, race, etc. Don't clubs do this already? Or are you suggesting a reminder on their social media accounts? |

Perhaps some an email with their thoughts, links to resources, places to donate, petitions to sign.
But first and foremost making a statement and telling everyone how they feel, taking steps to implement the actions they support and then letting their community know once again how they went about in helping. |
|
| Facts count more than words. What about what how many female TDS/coaches in your staff? Which is the ratio of white kids vs other backgrounds? Do families have a voice or club support when they feel their DC are not having equal opportunities as other DC in the team? Such a anonymous Hotline. There is quitE a lot a club can do to ensure there is no discrimination. |

Potomac U10 boy parent here with some tots in Brit-Am.
Last night our U10 boy had a team meeting to discuss training and camps with any mention of what’s going on currently to the parents. Director has declined to give an opinion |
Maybe the local club that bears the name of a certain Confederate general should think about changing it. |
Why do we care what a soccer club has to say. Why don’t you send an email out, at least to your team? People always want others to do things but won’t do it themselves. How convenient. |
Right, because Parents speaking up on behalf of club directors and leadership makes the most sense.

You guys are crazy. I don't know a single club that doesn't have a zero tolerance policy on racism (among other isms). If you're looking for social justice leadership from your SOCCER club, you're looking int he wrong place.
And if you're experiencing racism at your local club, LEAVE for goodness sakes - file charges if you want. Pick an organization that is actually designed to make a difference on the issue. Provide them with your time or funding if you so choose. For the person who suggested quotas... I'm not even going to get started. |
