A separate peace. |
Actually he was pushed by the main character! |
| No. It’s really bad, OP. |
Hmmm, is it possible that you are projecting your bias on to a child b/c of a name you don't like or a prior bad experience w/ a kid with that name? Think about that teach! |
| Finn is great though. Can u do Finn? |
| I think Phineas is a really cool name. However, I don’t know if I could personally use it myself. It just doesn’t lend itself well to our last name and doesn’t sound good with my other kids names. |
Do not use Phin. That’s horrible. It looks bad and would never ever be spelled correctly. It’s Finn. But Phineas is not good either. |
| Unless you want your kid to get bullied. |
Maybe Eas would be a better nn? |
OP, is this you? Phineas Jaylen is one of the worst names I have ever heard. It is just awful. I have no negative associations with Phineas at all. DD had a lovely classmate with that name and his nickname was Finn, not Phin. I thought Phineas and Ferb was a great cartoon when my kids watched it. If you call him PJ, won’t the kids call him “Pajamas” or “Jammies”? We have had a lot of teachers jump in on different threads to let us know what kids do to names. I consider them the top authorities when it comes to this subject. Kids can do it with any name. Don’t give them ammo. |
Op here - yes that was me. I like the name combination because it is unique to me. Do you like Jasper better? I'm not too worried about the nn, I just like that there are different options. |

Phineas and Hazel -- Julia Roberts' kids.
I see a LOT of Finn now but not Phineas. I had a cat named Phineas when i was little. |
| I read A Separate Peace back in 7th or 8th grade in the 70s. Thanks for the memories! |
