I have a relative that named their kid that, and use his initials as his nickname. I have another relative that named their kid something for which Finn is the nickname, so it was somewhat handy that Phineas is not all Finn/Phin. They're both okay, I guess. I think they were both really popular like 5 years ago.
We have actually considered Phineas Jaylen or Phineas Jasper with a nn of Phin or PJ!
OP, is this you? Phineas Jaylen is one of the worst names I have ever heard. It is just awful. I have no negative associations with Phineas at all. DD had a lovely classmate with that name and his nickname was Finn, not Phin. I thought Phineas and Ferb was a great cartoon when my kids watched it. If you call him PJ, won’t the kids call him “Pajamas” or “Jammies”? We have had a lot of teachers jump in on different threads to let us know what kids do to names. I consider them the top authorities when it comes to this subject. Kids can do it with any name. Don’t give them ammo.
Op here - yes that was me. I like the name combination because it is unique to me. Do you like Jasper better? I'm not too worried about the nn, I just like that there are different options.
