Just plain Finn is much better.

I have another relative that named their kid something for which Finn is the nickname, so it was somewhat handy that Phineas is not all Finn/Phin.
They're both okay, I guess. I think they were both really popular like 5 years ago.

We have actually considered Phineas Jaylen or Phineas Jasper with a nn of Phin or PJ!

OP, is this you? Phineas Jaylen is one of the worst names I have ever heard. It is just awful.

I have no negative associations with Phineas at all. DD had a lovely classmate with that name and his nickname was Finn, not Phin.
I thought Phineas and Ferb was a great cartoon when my kids watched it.

If you call him PJ, won’t the kids call him “Pajamas” or “Jammies”? We have had a lot of teachers jump in on different threads to let us know what kids do to names. I consider them the top authorities when it comes to this subject. Kids can do it with any name. Don’t give them ammo.

Absolutely Jasper is better (I’m the PP). However, it’s not my baby. I know that and know everyone comes for advice and we sure do give it, don’t we?
Phineas Jasper is dear.

Op here - yes that was me. I like the name combination because it is unique to me. Do you like Jasper better? I'm not too worried about the nn, I just like that there are different options.

Phineas sounds like a cats name. And Finn is painfully overdone.

I read Penis and then Funny Ass. Why do that to your kid? Finn:
