This. You get what you pay for.

Wait until September once the economy really crashes and those overpriced and unreliable contractors are desperate for business

Could be. Could also be that everyone is looking to do home improvement projects because they can’t travel and are spending all their time at home. Who knows?

Thanks for the info! I am starting to think 20K is what’s its going to cost in this area!

When dc were little we would push furniture to one end and they could ride their tricycles with coats on during the winter.

If you are staying in home long-term and love the outdoors, I think worth the expense. Do get at least 3 estimates!

Is it attached to the house?

I did get one of those as well but it’s so far out that I didn’t want to post those numbers!

Specs and price?

I know people who spent over $100k, but it is one of a kind and beyond beautiful. Thy use their porch every night, easily.

Not sure I understand the roof comment? My comment was only for the deck price and not Porch price

Just curious, do people with screened porches + decks really use the deck?

Our house has both, but given mosquitoes, deck does not get used. At all.

I have seen grills out on the deck, so would assume mostly for grilling. We will be enclosing 100% of our deck.

OP that is not a bad price. We are doing the same except just a roof over half of the deck (attached to the house). The deck is high as well - which adds cost because of the footers and how deep they need to be, etc.

Our deck is just as large as yours - which is huge. And,yes, I had sticker shock as well. We had quotes for the deck itself without roof for 20 to 45K for trex. Seriously, holy crap. Then the roof became complicated and it will another 15K - had some quotes up to 25K. It is insane. But the materials are pricey and we plan to use it so I GULPED and said okay.

We eat (breakfast, lunch, dinner- less crumbs in the kitchen for the win) outside a good amount especially this time of year when the weather is nice and before it gets buggy. Pre Covid we entertained a lot outside too. But even in the summer it isnt bad.
We grill 90% of the time year-round and the deck is off the kitchen so really easy to go in/out/prep/cleanup.

We have a small firepit too so having a beer on the deck even when there's a chill is no problem.

I'm always surprised by our fellow neighbors who have decks, but hardly ever use them.

I got a 14 x 18 sunroom with splitless HVAC and a 12 * 10 Trex deck done by Steadfast in 2018 for about $73k.
